Attention: France invites 30,000 Indian students-Know how to apply for Schengen Visa

The French government has introduced a significant initiative which grants Indian students, holding a Master's degree or any other higher degree, an opportunity to obtain a five-year short-stay Schengen Visa. This has been recently announced by Mr. Emmanuel Lenain, the French Ambassador to India.

So, it is imperative for willing Indian students to know the procedure of applying Schengen Visa. I have tried to mention the procedure step-by-step:
French visa application form: An applicant must complete the application form online, and sign.
Valid passport: It must be ensured that the applicant's passport is not older than ten years and has a validity of at least three months beyond the planned departure date from the Schengen territory.
Copies of previous visas: The candidate must submit old visas for France, if applicable.
France travel health insurance: The applicant must purchase travel health insurance valid for metropolitan France and all Schengen countries with coverage of minimum 30,000 Euros.
Proof of accommodation: The applicant must provide evidence of accommodation for the entire duration of intended stay.
Proof of sufficient financial means: Proof of sufficient financial means during the stay must be submitted.

The applicants must also submit additional documents as mentioned below:
    (a) Proof of enrollment, such as an enrollment certificate, confirming acceptance into a French educational institution or programme;
    (b) If applicable, a 'No Objection' letter from the applicant's current educational institution.
    (c) An internship agreement which has been signed by the French company where the applicant will be interning, appliant's home institution and the applicant.

The applicants for Schengen Visa must submit their application at the French Embassy or at the French Consulate.

It is good to know that France is inviting around 30,000 students for a short-term stay in their country and the duration is 5 years. This is a part of the decisions taken by President Macron and Prime Minister Modi in Paris. I think this is applicable to students who completed a minimum of one semester of study in France. The applicants should have a recognised master's degree or higher degree to apply for this Visa.
The author has given very clearly the procedure for applying for this Visa and I hope all eligible candidates will look into the details and apply in the prescribed application.

    Partha,

As per what I read in an online NDTV report, it is essential to have completed at least one semester of study in France in addition to having a Master's or higher academic qualification from a recognized Indian university. This means that the individual would already have a student Visa since I don't think an Indian student can study there without it. So, by 'old visa' I suppose the student Visa would be required to be submitted if applying for this Schengen Visa.

What the author has stated might be a moment of rejoice for many students interested to acquire education of in France with their allocation for a short term duration of 5 years. The strength of such students might be huge but at the same time very encouraging.
The condition stipulates that the aspirants need to have completed at least one semester of study in France apart from their completion of the Master's degree from the Indian University. The student visa would certainly be required to be produced if the aspirants are in need of Schengen Visa.

Schengen visa is a common visa for many European countries and students who want to go to France for studies have to apply for it. This post has given a good information on the visa application process.
It is not clear whether this 30000 number of students is an additional number or includes the already studying students there.
Anyway, this is a good outcome of the diplomatic relations between the leaders of these two countries.
