Is growth in IT sector stagnating?

Due to various local as well as global economic factors the growth in IT sector is stagnating and many companies are either postponing or reducing their hiring of IT professionals.
In our country we are having a large number of students passing out IT and Computer courses. Will this recessionary trend in IT industry affect the job opportunities for these students? What are your views in this matter? Is it a temporary phase or start of decline for IT job market.
Please share your views and opinions in this matter.

We are hearing that globally there is a reduction in the requirement of manpower and a recession. But it is not very high in India I understand. This is mainly due to low salaries in our country. Many MNCs are reducing their manpower in other countries but not disturbing the employees in India. This is what I heard from both of my sons. Both of them are in senior positions in the IT industry.
But some companies are trying to reduce their costs, so they are appointing B.Sc graduates with less salary. So there is some problem in getting jobs for these BTech/BE computer students. Many companies are selecting people for their companies through campus interviews but they are delaying releasing appointment letters.
There is a fear among many IT employees that incoming 4 to 5 years many seniors may be asked to resign as there is a slump in the market.
