Have ragging incidents in educational institutes decreased significantly?

It is observed that during the last few years the incidents of ragging of freshers in educational institutes are significantly decreased. Institutes are also taking the anti ragging declarations from the parents of the admitted students. Institute administration is taking stern actions against the students engaging in ragging activities. This is definitely a good trend.
What are your experiences in this regard? Have ragging incidents in educational institutes gone down and reached zero level or still some incidents are going unnoticed in the eyes of administration? Please share your views and opinions in the matter.

Ragging is reduced but does not become zero. Still, there are some ragging activities. But they are limited. Ragging is viewed seriously by all educational institutions and anti-ragging committees are formed in almost all professional colleges if any such activity is noticed, this committee will suggest the action to be taken and the management will act accordingly.
Ragging is helpful to students in getting acquainted with each other. But it should be well within the limits and should not cross the limits. When the institutions observe that ragging activity is going beyond control all these regulations are brought and it should be appreciated.
In some colleges, it has come to zero level but in many colleges, it reduced to a lot of extent and all are moving friendly with juniors also.

If it is limited to welcoming of the freshers and introducing them to the senior student community then it is all right.

Due to very strong provisions in the anti-ragging circulars issued by the UGC and various other regulatory bodies, the incidents of physical ragging has decreased to some extent but has not stopped altogether. In this connection, I would like to recall the very unfortunate incident which took place in Jadavpur University of Kolkata in August 2023. A young boy less than 18 years of age joined B.A. Honours course in this very prestigious university. The boy was from a semi-rural area from lower middle class background.

The boy was to some extent effeminate in nature. As a result, he had to suffer terrible ignominy and insult from senior students in the hostel. He committed suicide jumping from third floor of the hostel. After this unfortunate incident, there were terrible tension and arrests, which are still continuing in the university.

So, ragging still exists in HEIs of India, but the number has decreased to some extent.
