Mohandas Karamchand Gandhi was born at Porbandar on 2nd October 1869. He was one of the major contributors in India's freedom movement. People respect him. As a result of tremendous respect and curiosity on the life and philosophy of Mohandas Gandhi and his contribution to India's freedom movement, many modern-day historians have initiated research on Gandhi.

The new research is bringing new aspects of his life into fore. Hope this healthy trend of research on Mohandas Gandhi continues.

A 'famous' quote of Mahatma Gandhi which has come into limelight due to new research:
    (a) "Hindus should not harbour anger against Muslims even if the latter want to destroy and kill us all. We should face death bravely. If Muslims established their rule after killing all Hindus we would be ushering in a new India."

Similarly, Gandhiji's various statements on the black people of South Africa and on his indirect defence of Moplah (Mappilah) massacre of Hindus have come into prominence due to renewed interest and research on his activities and philosophy.

Gandhiji did a lot of work and brought independence to the country. His contributions are second to none in this aspect. I pay my tributes to that man on his Jayanthi on October 2nd. Everybody will appreciate his contributions to the freedom struggle.
October 2nd is also the birthday of Lal Bahadur Shastri, our ex-PM who coined the slogan " Jai Jawan Jai Kisan". His simplicity and ethical behaviour should be appreciated and he should be a role model to all politicians. I pay respects to this great man also on the occasion of his Jayanti on October 2nd.

Gandhiji regarded as one of great saints looked like an ordinary man but his qualities were unique influencing a lot of people how satyagrah can prove to be strong weapon to get freedom without resorting to violence.
He had the capacity to win the heart of the people with his ideological teachings and ultimately he made a strong force of the people to be used to get rid of thr Britishers with the observance the path of ahimsa.
He himself followed the the discipline in the life and was so simple that he had a single set of dhoti to be used to the entire body with a simple spec. But this simple man had an indomitable spirit to achieve the most difficult task with his sustained efforts. This quality made him the great.

So far as "simple" lifestyle of Mohandas Gandhi is concerned (as stated by Jha Sir), Sarojini Naidu once remarked about Gandhi that "it costs a lot of money to keep this man in poverty."
