Segregating children by gender in schools at an early age

When you look at the photos on the official websites of schools, have you noticed the segregation of even younger children by gender? You will see the toddlers in the Nursery and KG classes sitting around in groups playing with clay or drawing, with girls together and boys together. I have always wondered why this is necessary. Why not group them randomly with a mix of boys and girls?

It would be nice if there was no gender segregation at least at that level even if rigid about it in the upper primary, middle, and senior school levels, and just let them enjoy interacting with each other while learning, playing, travelling on the school bus, etc.

Gender discrimination in our society in many places and in many situations is not a healthy thing. If we apply it everywhere then it becomes a problem in the long run when it sets deeply in the minds of the people and they by nature they start discriminating between the genders everywhere every time. Discriminating between the genders is an evil thought and it will harm the society in many ways especially harming our women folks.
In primary classes it doesn't make sense to segregate the students as per their gender and make them aware of this thing so early in their lives.
Today we are going ahead with reservations for women in a big way and it is imperative that we have to completely remove gender bias from our minds as well as from our actions then only society will move forward and progress.
There are countries in the world where gender bias is prominent and much significant and in those situations not only the women are suffering but the whole country and society is not able to progress ahead.

    Knowledge is power.

I agree with the author. I have also seen in many schools even in KG classes, the teachers make the students sit in groups gender-wise only. Those children may not be able to understand why such a grouping was made. I think if they allow them to sit together the concept of their gender difference may not go into the minds of the children. That will be good. I have seen a few schools where boys and girls are made into groups in primary sections.
Some may argue that if we allow them to sit together, concentration on studies may come down. It may be in higher classes but not in primary classes. But if they got habituated to sitting together even in higher classes we would not have any problem.
Nature does not show any discrimination between the genders. It gives air, water and food as required to all. These are all human-made differences in their living, I feel.

Gender discrimination in our society flashes our negative emotions and this impacts the way of thinking of our children. We need to review the same so that a healthy culture in our society can be established.
The kids of the primary schools don't understand why they are being segregated but with the time, they are tuned to this habit.
Now coming to the intelligence and wisdom of either of the sexes, both are equally compatible. Hence a healthy culture is required to flourish the talent of both the sexes introducing a healthy norm in the society.
