Why a degree in Education is not required for a lecturer?

We all know that a candidate who wants to become a teacher after graduation should acquire a degree in education or have to undergo a teacher training course. This is mandatory. The appointing authority will clearly mention the same in their notification.

But to become a lecturer in a college there is no necessity to complete a degree in education. Only a Master's degree in the concerned subject is the requirement. In addition to that they have to clear the NET examination.

I think a teacher has to teach to a child who is still not completely mature. So they should have some teaching skills. But a lecturer will give a lecture and the student will be in a position to follow him by hearing the lecture. Is it the basis or any other points? I like to know the views of other members.

Generally a degree like B.Ed. is required to teach the students upto class 12 and after that it is not required as other qualifications like PG or PhD take precedence.
The boundary is put after class 12. The reason might be simple that whatever basic things required to teach the students in a proper way are required in the first phase they are not needed once the student enters the second phase which is called higher education also. Now the students have to concentrate in the stream rather than methods of teaching and other such aspects in the matter.

    Knowledge is power.

A B. Ed degree is essential to teach the students studying up to class twelve. By going through this course, they learn a loot of tools how the kids can be encouraged to take their intrest in their studies. This formulas, though inexpensive, can change the lives of the students altogether.
Once, they enter into the colleges, it is expected that they can take care of themselves and would pay full attention to the class - sessions. Hence the lecturers would simply concentrate on their lectures thinking that the students would be attentive to the lessons and no reminders from their end is required.
In fact, teaching a kid is more difficult than that of a grown up student. Hence a B. Ed degree is needed for the teachers teaching uo to class twelve.

On the face of it, this appears a relevant question

But by the time a student reaches college level, he/she would have acquired the minimum necessary comprehension level to understand what is taught, directly. In early days, colleges used to have only 'lectures' and that is why the college teachers were called 'lecturers'. They were not regular teachers who interacted with students much. They also came from different places and organizations and were experts in their own filed.
In college the student was supposed to get a preliminary guidance and was needed to absorb and record whatever was said in the lecture. The student was expected to use the library to enhance his knowledge and learning in the subjects.

It is now that even colleges came to be like lower class schooling where the teachers do the 'spoon-feeding'.

I wanted to know the reasoning in not asking for a degree in Education for college lecturers. Earlier there is no necessity of PhD for a lecturer. Only PG is sufficient. But now PhD is made essential. PhD is a course which makes a student to understand the methodology to adopts carrying out research. The reason what I thought is already mentioned in my post. Here I want to know the logic behind not asking for B Ed degree to lecturer. Members may be having some additional inputs on this issue. I never talked about sufficiency of the qualifications to a lecturer.
