College societies and school clubs supplement formal education

Most schools and colleges have clubs or societies related to extra-curricular activities. It's a good practice. It's always a welcome change for the students from the monotony of their regular classes. The boys and the girls get to hone their capabilities as singers, dancers, debaters, quizzers and many more. It becomes a good platform for communicating with the seniors and serves as a learning for all the members in reciprocation.

Such an arrangement should be mandatory for every school and college. It will surely add to the positive growth of every student. Through these activities, students get to know their potential better. A student can even take it up as a career if the person wishes to. Although a beneficial system for the students, sometimes senior students or batchmates deliberately create a little problem for a few opinionated students. It makes the culture of the association unhealthy.

Thus, there should be some teachers designated for each association. Naturally, no senior student or batchmate can demean or misbehave with any other student and apply their high-handedness. If educational institutions manage clubs or societies in a disciplined manner, then members of those groups are bound to benefit. It will help students in making their future bright. Isn't it right?

Extra curricular activities in the shape of clubs or groups or other such methods are very beneficial for the students to learn and progress in some areas which also have scope for a job in the future besides the jobs which they will be seeking as per their academic qualifications.
Stage performance, singing, public speaking, managing activities, event managing, outdoor excursions, etc are some of the activities learning which will help the students to know about those areas well and then they can think of a business idea where such skills are useful.
Last but not the least these activities remove shyness and hesitation from the personality of the students and prepare them with a robust outlook ready to compete in this competitive world.

    Knowledge is power.

There are some colleges where we will find such clubs. But I have never seen such clubs in a school. When I was doing B.Sc, in that college, there were some clubs. I was a member of one of such clubs and we used to work in teams in that group. That group is for Telugu literature works. These clubs will be useful to unearth some hidden skills in the students.
But slowly interest towards extra circular activities came down and parents want their children to concentrate on education and encourage them to get seats in IITs. AIMs etc. There are colleges where no playground is available for the students to play.
Presently I am seeing a change in this trend. Parents are encouraging their children to learn some additional skills. Many girls are practising music, dance, etc. Boys are trying to participate in sports. Thanks to social media I hope this will strengthen and students start participating in activities like music etc.

Fest and festivities bring change and energy to people and they refresh the tired or bored minds.
That is why we have various kinds of festivals where we indulge in various arts and sports events. Some of them are inbuilt in them as rituals and procedures.
I recall my college days when I was an active member of the debating club and also the Students Literary and Cultural organisation. Some of m friends were active in games and sports. If we are not participants, then we are observers and audience.

The new Educational Policy has brought many changes incorporating the erstwhile extra curricular activities also in academic syllabus and enabling credits.
