Reflective teaching is the essential tool for a teacher

We are living in the modern and technical age. Every field has discovered new methods and techniques. Similarly, the education field has also discovered new methods. One such method is reflective teaching.

Reflective teaching is how a teacher self-evaluates himself and plans to improve his teaching methodology. He evaluates before the teaching, during the teaching and after teaching. He collects different data and finds ways to improve his teaching.

I remember a quote, " A person does not learn from his experiences but he learns from the reflection on his experiences".

Similarly, reflective teaching is an essential tool for a teacher to improve his teaching.

A nice post by the author about the reflective teaching. I also agree that such techniques will definitely help the teachers to improve their teaching skills and it will be beneficial for the students also.
A teacher should get the continuous feedback on his teaching methods and methodologies so that if there are any bottlenecks or drawbacks in them he can modify and update and change them according to the need of the students. By doing so, the teacher can ultimately become a perfect teacher.
Most of the teachers generally prepare well for the teaching sessions but apart from that what also matters is how the teacher is delivering the lecture, whether he is taking the average intelligence of the students in the class in cognisance or not, what is his speed of teaching, and factors like that. A teacher who gives importance to all these factors while teaching will definitely perform better and when the feedback is also added to this then it becomes a very good experience for the students who are attending the class to learn and gain knowledge.

    Knowledge is power.

We are witnessing various changes in almost all fields and such changes are happening in the education field also. Reflective teaching is a good concept. In many private companies every year there will be an assessment programme for the employees of that company. In this self-appraisal is a part. This is to be carried out by the employee himself. After that, the immediate boss and the boss of the boss will review both assessments. After this exercise, each employee will be told about his/ her positives and negatives. He/ she will told about the areas where some improvement is required. I think this Reflective teaching is something like self-assessment. But the main issue here is the teacher should have the inclination to improve his performance. Then only these are useful. In the absence of that inclination whatever may be the methodology, there will not be any improvement.
