What is the latest implementation status of NEP2020

National Education Policy 2020 was to be implemented in the academic year 2023.
There were a lot of political debates(rather than academic debates) on that, especially by the parties and states run by political parties opposed to BJP and NDA. Unfortunately, those debates mostly circled about the intention and right of the central government to bring and implement such drastic policy changes in a matter that is a concurrent list subject in the constitution.
The actual academic debates on the merits and demerits of the overall policy aim and the individual clauses were not given that much focus. There was a notable lack of participation of academic people as well as students in the matter. It did not invite popular attention in TV channel debates.
I read some media reports about some changes in courses and curriculum in college education in Kerala announced by the Minister for High Education in Kerala.
I also read media reports a couple of months ago, by Karnataka CM announcing "the decision to discontinue the implementation of the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020 in the state's higher education institutions starting from the upcoming academic year.
This policy, initially put in place by the previous Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP)-led government, will continue for the current academic year in order to avoid inconvenience to students in the middle of the session……."
I am not aware of the status in other states.

ISC members (who also may have first hand experience as current students or parents of current students)may throw light on this topic.

NEP 2020 implementation is already going on. The University Grants Commission started a unique concept called NEP SAARATHIs from students, The selected students will propagate the NEP concept in the student community, I understand. These SAARATHIs are Student Ambassadors for Academic Reforms in Transforming Higher Education in India.
To know more about this I request the author to go through the following thread.
NEP SAARATHIs from students. A novel concept from UGC.
It is unfortunate that in our country any development or improvement programmes are also viewed from a political angle only. The welfare of the public and the growth of the country are not important for politicians. The political mileage they and their party get is more important for them than the growth of the country.

In the name of discussing merits and demerits, the state governments run by opposition parties are trying to stall the implementation of this very progressive and modern education policy. But this attitude will ultimately harm the students of these states and they will lag behind in competition with students of other states, which have started implementing this policy at the right earnest.

However, to implement NEP-2020 in the proper perspective, all the states/UTs will have to improve the related inflastructure everywhere (rural, semi-urban and urban localities).
