Does the Teacher-Student ratio have any relevance in online education

Whenever there was discussion about the education system in our country one very common point discussed till now was about the teacher-student ratio in classes.
It was argued that the increase of students in a class impacts the personal attention a teacher can devote to each student. This was highlighted especially about the students in government-run schools and in the rural and small-town areas where the parents also may not be able to give much attention to the studies of their children.
The push for online education and the popularity and acceptability of online education has changed the scene totally.
Do you think there is still relevance to the teacher-student ratio in online education situations too?

This is an interesting observation by the author but in the online scenario there is no way to know this ratios as there are many techniques through which they can teach the students even with less number of teachers.
Another thing is that in online mode there is good flexibility of choosing the study timing and from that aspect the teachers have much time in hand and can entertain different groups at different time of the day.
It is also possible that in online mode a teacher can handle time in small slots within the scheduled time of the group and in that case also a student will not be at loss and teacher will be able to manage a good number of students.

If the lessons are prerecorded the students can watch them and hear them at their convenience, there is no question of student-teacher ratio. Even when the teacher and students get in touch online and clarify their doubts also there is no problem with the teacher-student ratio.
But when the online classes are conducted live definitely student-teacher ratio is important. For example, my wife is attending yoga classes online. Their coach is limiting the number of students per batch so that when these participants are performing she can observe them closely if the number is limited, In one class there are 20 students online. In addition to the coach, there is an observer also. Both of them will be observing all the participants and if they find anyone doing it in the wrong way they are correcting them.
Many students take online tuition and their parents want the tuition teacher to give one-to-one tuition only even though it is online so that the teacher can pay attention to the student completely.
