Really who runs the educational sector in our country now

No one can dispute the present widespread feeling that education is a business now. In the olden days especially during the rule of benevolent Kings and Queens, education was seen as an essential welfare measure immediately after food, shelter, and clothing. In ancient Bharat, there were reputed Universities. The rulers took great interest and focus in funding and encouraging educational institutions and aimed at excellence in education knowledge and scholarship. Even just a few decades ago public education was given priority. One recent action almost in that spirit was the Right To Education Act.
However, in the current situation, public and free education and such educational institutions are shrinking. Most governments have started looking away from the educational sector as an essential welfare service, but have now turned them into a resource for public money and private gratifications.
That is why we can now see that many educational institutions are run by businessmen, politicians, Corporates, and even religious organizations. Some of them just put a facade of service, but in the name of fees and various expenses collect hefty amounts. Parents –some willingly and some grudgingly- shell out such huge sums. It is because the education sector has become a surefire successful business that we see many new educational institutions launched frequently under various captivating names.
On the actual ground, there are other monopolies and power centers like politically based student unions, trade unions of teaching staff and non-teaching staff
For brevity, I can sum up that in reality, the education sector is dominated and run by students unions, teachers and other staff unions, business houses, businessmen, politicians, and religious organizations –for power and dominance, and the amount of money coming from the education business directly and indirectly.

This is a thought provoking post by the author. Today a large number of educational institutions are in private sector and are being managed by trusts, societies, associations, and business houses.
There are Government run educational institution also and there are many which are partly aided by the government.
So it is a mix bag and there is a lot of variation in the course fees across government to private institutions.
Due to the variety of institutions we cannot say as who is the apex body running them but they all are following the guidelines set forth by Govt agencies.

    Knowledge is power.

Running an educational institute is a profitable business these days. That is why many private and corporate schools, colleges and universities are getting opened up. Today the state and central governments are spending a lot of money on education. There are government schools where education is free and good qualified teachers will be there in those schools. But the expected output from these schools is not coming out and even in villages, people prefer private schools for their children's studies. I need not elaborate on the reasons for this.
The governments are giving free books, free uniforms, free footwear, free midday meals and no-fee facilities for low-income groups and reserved categories. But their children are also not going to these schools. After seeing this I feel that the educational sector is completely in the hands of private corporations. These days the school teachers are getting very good salaries but good students are not going to their schools. One should think about this seriously.

Education is in the Concurrent List of the Constitution of India. This means the responsibility is shared by the Central Government and State/UT Governments. Out of this, the Central Government's share is more than 70%. The budget in the education sector has been increasing over the years.

However, with the passage of time, private sector also started participating in imparting education to students. Earlier it was felt that education provided by private sector was qualitatively superior, but nowadays many people/organisation have tried to enter education with business mentality with only profit in mind.

Admitting this uncomfortable truth, we find that even now, the Governments (Central and State) spend more than 80% of the total amount spent annually in education sector in India.
