Awareness against binge and odd-hour eating habits

Nowadays, obesity in students, from kids to youths, is common. It's not a good sign for the upcoming generation. All the academic centres must conduct awareness programmes for students and parents.

Once in a while, binge and odd-hour eating could be harmless, but when it becomes a habit, it's harmful. The students must understand that to be successful in life, they must be healthy. Usually, the youths remain awake till two or three at night, watching any series or playing computer games and munching chips and whatnot. Uncontrolled food habits and odd hours leave an unhealthy impact on the body.

Family intervention and awareness are of utmost importance to control the wrong practice. Schools and colleges should also play a vital role in making students of every age understand the negative impact of unhealthy eating habits. Isn't it so?

The author has raised a very important thread which is relevant for the present-day students. These students don't follow any routine, study at late night, sleep very late, wake up very late and eat unhealthy junk food-items. Further, they don't bother to maintain a regular physical activity.

They do more harm than good to themselves by their erratic lifestyle and habit of eating junk foods. Some of them, even in their teens, suffer from constipation and other physical problems due to eating junk-food along with cold drinks.

That is very correct. Binge and odd hour eating should not become an habit. These days we see many students eating irregularly and without following a time schedule. They prefer junk food and avoid food made in the house. This will have a big say on their health and in long run they face health problems. Parents should see that their children will not get habituated to such food. They should make them to understand the importance of eating healthy and sleeping right. But these parents also are preferring eating out and that is the main issue to be attacked.

    The author is right.
One day I went to my friend's house I saw that the wife of my friend gave breakfast to her child by 10.30 AM as the child was on leave for her school. I told her not to practice as it would affect her routine.
Such practice is not affecting children only but also elders. I have one officer who used to sit for his lunch in office by 2.15pm daily whereas the regular lunch time is 1.15 pm by saying he had some work etc.. I once on seeing this told him to get his lunch with all others in the lunch hour as it would affect his health badly. Not only this, when he sit for his lunch everybody would finish their lunch even in other offices also. So they may call him for any clarification and they got annoyed because of his absence in the seat. Now he is suffering from piles.

Health is wealth and a student can perform well in his studies as well as making a career only when one keeps good habits to promote good health.
Taking junk food and taking food at any time is the main cause of disorder in our bodies. In our ancient Indian ayurvedic system it is very clearly mentioned that food is to be cooked using proper ingredients and should be taken in the house at proper timings. Ayurveda strongly mentions that one should take food early in the evening so that the food is almost digested before going to bed and the energy of body after that is used in repairing the body and not in digesting the food. Today many modern doctors are recommending that to their patients. Today we are talking of intermittent fasting and it is catching up with people in big way. But fasting was a very common thing in our ancient time and Ayurveda still mentions fast as an activity of highest order not only bringing betterment to the body but also to the mind.
There is no substitute for good food habits. It is the most crucial thing in our lives including the lives of students also.
Parents should take care in this respect and guide their children accordingly so that they don't get unnecessary physical problems during their studies or at the time of examination.

    Knowledge is power.
