Will mix and match types of courses and syllabi help
The revolutionary feature envisaged in NEP 2020 is "no hard separations between arts and sciences, between curricular and extra-curricular activities, between vocational and academic streams, etc. in order to eliminate harmful hierarchies among, and silos between different areas of learning. · multidisciplinary and a holistic education across the sciences, social sciences, arts, humanities, and sports for a multidisciplinary world in order to ensure the unity and integrity of all knowledge;"This is clearly indicating to "flexibility so that learners have the ability to choose their learning trajectories and programmes, and thereby choose their own paths in life according to their talents and interests;" The course and subject menu will be seamless.
This is going to bring drastic changes in course and combinations. Till now the subjects were pre-decided as per the stream the student takes like arts stream, Science stream, or Humanities. But now all this will change. A Student can choose Physics as one subject and fashion or music as another subject for his graduation course. This was totally unimaginable earlier. A student can have Mathematics, Tamil Language, and Music as combination subjects for his course.
Though, we can see the actual ground effects only after a couple of years of implementation what is your take on an imaginative and critical evaluation of this matter?
