Request to consider change of name
National Council of Educational Research & Training (NCERT) had constituted committees some time back to prepare position papers on various subjects taught at school level. The committee on social sciences was chaired by eminent historian C.I. Issac. This committee has now submitted its recommendation.Among the recommendations of the committee chaired by Prof. Issac, the most discussed one is its recommendation to replace 'India' with 'Bharat' in school textbooks. Prof. Issac has defended this recommendation stating that: 'Bharat is in our DNA. We have been 'Bharat' for centuries. What is the problem with this? The name 'Bharat' provides recognition to the country's soil.'
In all probability, the Government is going to accept this recommendation as early as possible.
Considering this fact, I strongly suggest to change the name of this website from 'IndiaStudyChannel' to 'BharatStudyChannel' . I am stating this with all seriousness.
