Interesting: A new gecko found at Rajapalayam, Tamil Nadu
I, like most of the members of ISC, read different types of news from various sources. Among the cacophony of information, we find some information very interesting. Very recently, in the fog of wars going on between Israel-Hamas, Russia-Ukraine and Armenia-Azerbaijan, a completely different news has attracted my attention. I am sharing this interesting information with the members of ISC.Very recently, a new species of gecko has been found in the Western Ghats near Rajapalayam in Tamil Nadu. The scientific name of this new species is Cnemaspis rashidi . This new gecko has been found at an altitude of 1245 metres at Kottamalai estate near Rajapalayam. It is also called 'Rashidi's dwarf gecko' as it is the smallest among the genus. More interestingly, this gecko is endemic to the Western Ghats.
This gecko displays a combination of beautiful colour pattern of yellow, white and black on its back, making it gorgeous and beautiful.
