The system of spot valuation may not be able to assess the strength of the student correctly

We all know about the spot valuation of answer sheets submitted by students of the 10th class and 12th class final examinations. After completion of the public examinations, all the answer sheets from different schools will be collected by the concerned authorities and a spot valuation will be conducted. Many teachers from schools will be called for the correction and awarding of marks to the students. A minimum number of papers to be corrected will be declared by the officials and the teachers should complete that quota and extra papers for correction will be given to teachers if time is there. Many teachers complete the quota fast and get some more extra papers so that they will get additional money.

I observed that many teachers will not give importance to minor details and give marks as they like. Some teachers just go through it quickly and give marks. This process is not doing justice to the students. Some are getting benefitted and some are getting lost. I feel a minimum number of papers should not be there and there should be a limit on the maximum number of papers for correction per day. That may improve the quality of valuation and justice will be done to the deserving students.

Quality of valuation of papers is the most important aspect since this method alone will decide the fate of the students. I feel both the aspects - rewarding marks liberally and less marking due to the attitude of the examiners can impact the careers of the students.
There might be some examiners who would check the answer books hurriedly and might demand more answer books for evaluations. This would definitely add a few bucks to their pockets but the overall impact will not be favourable for the students with respect to true valuations of the copies. It is quite possible that the head examiners might notice some anomalies in the valuation process but there is no surety of it.
The best way could be to take the examiners into confidence by the head.examiners apprising the examiners of the ways of evaluation of the answer books so that the uniform process of evaluation could be maintained during the assessment of the caliber of the examinees.

I feel it is better to fix not minimum number of papers to be valued in a session. There should be a sealing on the maximum number of papers an examiner can correct in a session. Another point I suggest is double valuation. Each paper should be evaluated by two teachers independently and the marks awarded by one teacher should not be known to the other teacher.
