A very informative thread and very useful to the students who want to explore their chances to study abroad. After seeing this thread, I became a little curious to know about the status of our Indian universities in this ranking and I searched for the same on the URL mentioned by the author.
The first Indian university that appeared in this list is the Indian Institute of Sciences, Bangalore and it is in the ranking group of 200 to 250. The next is Anna University and it is in the 501 to 600 range. the IIIT, Hyderabad is in the 601 to 800 range. VIT, Chennai is also in this range only. The rank of Andhra University, Visakhapatnam in which I did my master's degree and PhD is 1501+. Incidentally, the ranking of the first private university in AP is also 1501+
The rankings indicate the standard of the institute not only concerning academics but also other factors like employment opportunities.

Rankings of the universities are indicative of their standards and less is the number of the university, the better it is. The author has provided the details of the universities indicating their overall scores so that the students can be familiar with the performance of the universities in terms of their scores.
However, without doing such a homework, we can continue our studies in the prominent institutions such as the IITs of the different locations, NIT's, IIIT's and other medical colleges such as the AIMS, St. John's Medical College, Armed Forces Medical Colleges etc. What is needed that the students need to work hard to qualify the tests of such institutions existing in our country.
However, it is not a bad idea to be acquainted with the scores of the foreign universities as indicated by the author. There are several talented students who would be more interested interested to pursue their studies in the foreign universities for their bright futures even at the cost of availing of loans from the financial institutions.

This information is very useful for the students who are planning to acquire higher education abroad. It is always better to first see the ranking of the educational institute in which a particular person is interested for taking admission and pursuing higher education in foreign countries.
It is worth mentioning that in our country today there are very good educational institutions and one can consider them also for higher learnings before taking a decision for going abroad. Probably the only charm for going abroad and getting education there is that many students get job there itself and from that angle it makes sense to pursue higher education in those globally established institutions.

    Knowledge is power.
