Which video will you prefer for studying and learning?

Today, the ed-tech industry is flourishing industry and growing day by day because of so much freely available content on various apps, YouTube, and blogs. So, while learning about a topic, when a student or even any adult person searches for a topic, he/she gets several videos on the same topic. What do you think he/she will choose if there is a video of 1 hour or a video of 5 or 6 minutes? I guess it will be a video of a shorter duration. Why is that?

Is it because we want to save time, or is it because our attention span has become so much shorter that we are not able to watch whole sessions? Even if a person does pick a video of a long duration, he/she will watch it at a 2x speed. It is not about learning now but saving time and storing the information. What do you think about this? What is your experience when it comes to learning from YouTube and online material? Is time and attention span an important factor?

Audio-visual education is very popular these days. Even in classroom teaching, teachers are shown many useful videos which will be useful for the students. It is a big revolution these days. These videos show experimentation also and schools which do not have laboratories are showing these videos so that students will get acquainted with lab equipment also.
I also prefer watching good videos in which useful information is given. I prefer watching short videos more than lengthy videos. These days we are receiving videos about Santana Dharam from some prominent Gurus and they are making small videos that are very impressive. I make a point to watch them as they are teaching me many important points which I never read earlier.

Even my granddaughter who is in 1st class watches videos which run for a few minutes. She does not like to watch longer-duration videos.

Audio-visual videos are very helpful to the students to understand the various topics of their subjects. Though we get sufficient materials in the textbooks, sometimes the students would be required to understand some concepts of the books not explained to their satisfaction.

In such cases, they can have better concepts of the portions using audio-visual videos. Currently, with little effort, many videos connected with any text not understood clearly can be viewed in audiovisual videos to make their concepts more clear.

Just for studying you can watch short videos because in that case, you are noting down the important points and keeping things in mind for awareness. For learning, which is in-depth understanding and gaining useful information on the topic you require longer videos. Though it all depends on the topic and the instructor, both have their purpose. I don't think the one-hour video and a video of five minutes duration would discuss the thing in the same way. Maybe the analogy between a full-time course and a crash course is suitable in this case. There are crash courses on various topics nowadays where you can get a certificate by writing the test. However, to know more about the topic and to do some research you have to go through the complete course. If shorter videos serve your purpose then of course you will have the option to save time but if that's not the case then you have to learn in-depth.

Today a large number of audio-visual facilities and learning materials are available on the internet and one can choose as per one's requirement and depending on the time available in hand.

One thing that is very important in this searching for information on the internet is that whether it is a student or any other professional everyone wants to have good data and information in minimum time so it makes sense to bookmark all those sites or pages which are worth of visiting again and again.

In some sites like YouTube, there is the facility to run the video at higher or lower speeds and that is a great facility because one can adjust it at one's convenience. Further, there are dedicated sites for various topics and subjects and once good sites are earmarked one can keep a note of them and visit them whenever some authentic and useful information is required.

The Internet is like an ocean and if we aimlessly surf in it then we will waste all our time searching and going from one place to another without any objective in our minds and that is the thing which we all should avoid.

    Knowledge is power.

Well its totally depend on student's interest. Which courses they want to study. Like I am studying ACCA Course and very satisfied with the LMS, Recorded lectures and the faculty for their response of my queries.

I feel the video lectures and demos can be a supplementary or complimentary to the prescribed texts and/or classroom learning. In online self learning the video classes come more useful, as the learner can view the same class in repeats any time he needs until he learns it thoroughly.
