English experts may clarify and come up with other examples.

I hope those who have been in school in 70s or 80s will not have confusion of US and UK spellings of English. Now I want to know which English is taught in syllabus and what will happen if students use other English as the advent of internet has greater influence in our life. Though I am not expert in English, I still remember what my teachers taught.

Recently I raised a thread which had the word learnt but it has been edited by editors as learned. I noticed only in content and thought I made a mistake and corrected it again. Later I noticed the same in title too and then searched in net and it says both are correct as learnt is UK English spelling and learned is US English spelling.

It is a valuable insight. What I think is that we are influenced with US English and the same language is following in India. However, it doesn't not mean that there is not the acceptance of American English. English is the reach language in the sense that it accepts the language spoken and written in US. This is definitely the characteristic of its richness. Though there is a slight departure in terms of spellings between the US and UK and under that situation, the scholars of English Literature would not mind such anomalies.

That is correct. There are some differences between US and UK English. Many may not understand these differences. The important differences between these two languages are in their pronunciations, their vocabularies, and their spelling.
For example In British English, when r comes after a vowel in the same syllable (as in car), the r is not pronounced. But in American English, the r is pronounced. Truck in US English is equal to a lorry in UK English.
Many British English verbs ending in -ise are spelt with -ize in American English. realise/realize, and organise/organize, are the two examples.
As mentioned by the author if English teachers take some interest and explain them these difference definitely students will get benefitted, I feel.

There are significant differences between US and UK English especially from spelling point of view. Earlier we were using only UK English and used only those spellings. Everyone followed that meticulously. Subsequently the US English also started to influence us in India and for so many words we had two different spellings. That created a lot of confusion in the minds of people as which spelling is correct or which one has to be used.
A good teacher knows these differences and can teach and explain those subtle things to the students.

    Knowledge is power.
