This is the time of the year when festivals related to Makar Sankranti are observed in various parts of our country. People come outdoors and enjoy the winter Sun.
In our area Lohri and Sankrant were observed in the evening and there were songs on which people had Bhangra dance and other entertainments.
I wish a Happy and prosperous time to all the members during these festivals and have a nice time.

Yesterday we celebrated Bhogi in both the Telugu states. Today is Makara Sankranti. Tomorrow is Kanuma. The names of the festivals, as mentioned by Saji, may be different in different parts of the country but almost all the states will be lavishly celebrating this festival.
This year we wonderfully celebrated this festival in our house. Our elder son came to Hyderabad from Bangalore with his family and stayed here for two days and left today as he has to attend office tomorrow. We enjoyed this festival with our three granddaughters. My sister and brother-in-law came for lunch today. Yesterday evening we had a get-together with some of my friends and relatives who are near our place. The children enjoyed a lot during this get-together in our house.
I wish a happy Sankranti to all the members of ISC.

On this auspicious occasion, my best wishes to all in the ISC family. In West Bengal too, like various other states in the country, it is celebrated as Poush Sankranti/Makar Sankranti with lots of sweet dishes and there is joy all around for a new beginning. This celebration is an expression of gratitude towards the Sun God for a good harvest. Let's immerse in the celebration with new hopes and for a better tomorrow.

I extend my good wishes and greetings to all the members on the occasion of this great festival known as Makar Sankranti. When I was living in Gujarat, we had a great fun in flying kites and having specific Gujarati snacks which we enjoyed on the roof tops.

On this auspicious occasion, I extend my good wishes to all the members on the occasion of Makar Sankranti. In the past, I have witnessed the smiling faces of the farmers on this holy day due to arrival of fresh crops in their courtyards. Hence they celebrate Makar Sankranti in the joyous mood inviting their friends and relatives to enjoy the same with the lots of dishes of sweets. Let us strengthen that sweetness in our relationship.
