Canada is going to put a cap on the number of foreign students

A large number of students from various countries are going to Canada for higher education and due to the increasing number of the students, there is a housing problem in and they are not able to provide affordable residence facilities to such a large number of students. Now Canada is contemplating to put a cap on the number of students coming to Canada for higher education.
This will have an impact on those countries from where a good number of students are going to Canada. As per the data available as on November 2023, it shows that the largest number of students in Canada are from India, about 2,15,910 out of a total of 5,79,075 students living in Canada and pursuing various courses.
Canada Govt has also increased the financial capability from Rs 6.14 lacs to Rs 12.7 lacs and new applicants will have to provide that.
The reduction in the intake of the students from outside is yet to be announced by Canada.

A decision on this matter has not yet been announced by Canada. As mentioned by the author many students from our country are going to Canada for higher studies as well as for earning also. If this is implemented there may be some reduction from India also. That may have some effect on the students who want to go there.
Of course, there are many other countries and options are available. If one door is getting closed, another door may start opening. So let us be optimistic. If more and more industries are coming to India, employment opportunities here will increase and people may not be so interested in going outside the country.
I understand job opportunities are there in Canada and they want to people to manage them. So I feel Canada may not go for heavy reduction and may marginally reduce. Let us be optimistic and wait to see what is going to happen there in Canada.

I think this thread is premature for us to discuss anything. The Canada government is yet to take a final decision and so there is no point in bringing up guesses or imaginations. I suggest we wait for the final decision and then the author may bring up this topic in different words and different perspective for us to discuss the pros and cons. Let us not follow the regular social media method of jumping the gun.

I am locking this thread for the time being.
