We are expanding Forum to more topics

    Hi all,

Some time back, we decided to restrict all sections in ISC to allow only education related topics. The same rule was applied in the Forum section as well and we restricted other discussions here.

However, we received numerous requests that at least the forum should be open for active discussions on a wider range of topics.

    Here we listen to you!

We are removing the restriction in the forum with effect from 01 February and you are free to discuss a wide range of topics with immediate effect.

Please see a few general guidelines:

    1. We do not allow threads propagating religious or political ideologies.
    2. We will also not entertain threads merely repeating media reports/ messages, threads on entertainment, etc.
    3. Threads instigating communalism or violence also need to be avoided.
    4. Politics may be discussed in general.

All threads will be strictly moderated and any thread that does not conform to our policies will not be entertained.

Indeed a very good decision, I feel. We may have more threads now. I think members will come up with new threads on different topics without deviating from the guidelines given by the Webmaster. It is very difficult to raise topics only in the field of education. That is why we have seen a big reduction in the number of new threads. That may be the main reason for the reduction of threads in the Forum section. Now, let us be optimistic that we will have more activity in this section. Let us wait and see.

A good decision as it will create interest in many members to contribute more in forum section and also motivate some new members to join here.
I remember earlier we had many members active in forum section. I hope this announcement will bring that vibrant time back in this forum section which is of course the gateway to ISC.
Let us all try to make it a success but do not forget to contribute educational content in other sections as that would be an essential task in making this a niche site.
I would take this opportunity to humbly remind the members that there is a lot of potential to contribute in this site under 'Information Update' and members can consider that for contributing.
    All the best. Keep contributing.

The latest decision taken up by the webmaster is the most significant decision and hope this will create a positive impact for revival of the Forum Section. We have had a less number of visitors in this section due to the imposition of restrictions introduced recently.
With the latest announcement, we would witness the surge of the members who would be actively participating in this channel in the varied topics.

A welcome decision for member(s) like me who felt suffocated in this 'educational environment'.

However, I feel that the statement 'Politics may be discussed in general' is tricky and this requires further elaboration for a very ordinary person like me.

A welcome decision. Hope it gives us more options to contribute.

Partha, read the points at 1, 3 and 4 together and try to gather the intend. If you still find it tough to understand, we will issue a detailed explanation, if required and if asked for by a few others too.

It is, as said by others, a very welcome move and I hope our forum section regains the vibrancy. Let us put our hands together, positively, to bring back the glitter of the section. The attitude of the Webmasters to suggestions should be valued and reciprocated.

A welcome decision by the Webmaster to allow the thread other than education. Hope this decision will encourage the members to contribute to the forum section.

It is good to see the expansion at ISC and surely this will bring back some more sunshine in our forum!

At the same time, though, it is hoped that the few members who are active in the forum of the Social Village site continue to participate in forum discussions there, as well as in the monthly topic-based contest. Editor Sankalan comes up with really good topics for this contest, so do let's see an increased number of entries in the SV contest as well like it is for the contests here and the thread of the fortnight award program at ISC.
