What would you choose out of the two options?

India is a big country and has a varied topography ranging from mighty Himalayas in the north to the deserts in the western part and lush greenery in the eastern side while it has beautiful mountain ranges to the south coming down to the plains of Tamilnadu and Kerala finally meeting the Indian ocean.
There is lot to explore and there are many tourist places of attraction in our country and one can choose out of that depending upon one's choice.
Also, there are many tourist places and picturesque places all around the globe and those who can afford can surely visit some of those.
Now, if you can afford, what would you choose - to explore our own country or visit to some foreign tourist place? Please share your views.

If time permits, I prefer both. There are many beautiful places in our country as well as abroad. My native place is a beautiful place with a lot of greenery and rivers flowing full of water on both sides of the road.
I have travelled to many places in our country. I have visited all the state capitals of all states in India. I went to Sikkim and I went to Kanya Kumari. I went to Gauhati, Lakshadweep, Goa, Andaman etc. I visited Vyshnavi Devi, Haridwar, Trivandrum etc. I was very much impressed with Munnar. If a chance comes, I want to visit again Munnar.
I have visited some foreign countries also. I was very much impressed with Amsterdam. The airport is very big and the city is very clean and no pollution. I visited the Czech Republic. The temperature is very low and we walked over ice there on the main roads.
Still, there are many places I like to visit. I don't know how many of them I can visit.

I agree that many foreign places are worth visiting but somehow I have an inclination for visiting attractive places in India only. In fact I have gone to many good locations in southern part of our country like Ooty, Kodaikanal, Yarcaud, Munnar, Matheran etc.
    Knowledge is power.

As the author has stated, our country with various topographic features all through is a wonderful destination to enjoy and explore, I am sure. I visited so many places including the beautiful Taj Mahal on full moon day, Red Fort, Qutub Minar the Marvel of India, India Gate the war memorial, divine Madura and Brindavan, Pink City Jaipur, Mount Abu, Haridwar and Rishikesh of serene nature, the pilgrimage city of Varanasi, Mumbai the financial hub, Pune, entertaining Ahmedabad, Baroda, Jam Nagar in Gujarat, Bangalore with lush gardens, Mysore with breathing lakes and hills, the colorful Hyderabad, and Andaman Islands with a memorable helicopter ride to Havelock island, and so on. I often visit Kerala, which is known as God's Own country where my friend cum relative is living and explore many places over there. Of course, I have yet to visit places in Tamil Nadu, my state of residence. Even though I enjoyed visiting numerous tourist spots, I would love to visit to view the abandoned scenic beauty of Dhanushkodi, known as the last land, Ladakh, and Kailash Manasarovar.

As far as abroad nations, though I travelled across the USA, Dubai, Singapore and Malaysia, I have Switzerland and London on my wish list.

As Bhavani rightly said there are so many places in our country worth visiting so one can explore them and manage even in a budget mode. Those who can afford can of course plan to visit foreign locations also.
I have visited some tourist places in our country and there are some which are still fresh in my mind because of their stunning beauty and picturesque locales. One such place is Munnar a hill station which is about 6 hrs journey from Cochi and in my view the beauty of Munnar competes with even Switzerland. The clouds hanging among hills, the tea gardens, and the lush greenery all make it a great location to visit and enjoy the time there.

    Thoughts exchanged is knowledge gained.

I always hold the view that just as Carnatic Music, it may take many many years before for us to fully explore and
    understand our great country.
I always enjoyed any journey and even if my visit to that place is not the first time, still I used to feel and enjoy as if I am there for the first time.

Though I had visited many places in different states, I still feel that it does not even constitute a miniscule percentage of our large, great country. Every travel makes me to feel more excited about the variety and expanse of our country, whether it be the topography, local culture, cultivation, weather, language, food ,entertainment, festival etc.
Two month back also I was part of a conducted tour of pilgrim places in two states, and on the way passed through three other states also. Oh! what a great knowledge -firsthand knowledge- I could get from that tour! It is from such travels and tours that we come to realise more and more how much ignorant we are and how much ''koopamanduka' minds( mindset like a frog-n-the-well) we are.

Regarding visits abroad, I have not taken a passport yet and so had not visited any foreign places. Hence my visits are all in our country.

There are still many states that I have not visited nor even passed through. Arrangements made to visit one such state next month.
