Students must follow the 8+8+8 formula for their studies

The board examinations for 10 and 12 classes have been started or are going to start within some days. Similarly, competition exams like JEE, NEET, GATE, etc are going to be held shortly. The student must follow the 8 +8 +8 formula during these days in their studies. Do you know what is the 8+8+8 formula?

You must take a sleep of 8 hours in a day. It is necessary to be recharged every day and sleeping 8 hours is a must for a student. The next 8 hours are for your other work and activities. And the other 8 hours are for your study.

If you will follow this formula, I hope you will get better outcomes.

Many students may not follow this system of 8 + 8 + 8. Rather their parents and the coaching institutes will not allow them to follow. 12 hours classes will start in all coaching institutes. When my son was doing his intermediate, he joined a coaching institute. He used to go at 6 AM and return home only at 7 PM. After coming from the institute he used to take one or two hours of rest and then start working on the assignments given and used to go to sleep at 11 PM and used to get up at 4 AM. That means he was getting only 5 hours of sleep.
However, what the author suggested is excellent and should be followed by all students and parents and teachers should allow them to follow. Students who follow this programme will get very good results.
Some students waste their time in the year beginning and then start reading just one or two months before the examinations and they will sleep for very less time. This is not a good practice. Start early and finish the course early and start revision 2 or 3 months before the examinations and follow the 8 + 8 + 8 programme. The result will be excellent.

As per my experience and understanding a student must spend about 6 to 8 hours per day for studies depending on his intelligence level and retention capacity. Some students can make it in 5-6 hours while others require 8-9 hours for retaining and learning the same thing. That is of course something related to genetics and upbringing of the child.
The formula of 8-8-8 is definitely a great technique and a general direction in the matter but this has to be customised in case of each and every student depending upon the habits and environment where the student is living.
A good sleep is pre-requisite for good health which is required for making the body fit for studies. Some students are compromising with their sleep hours which is affecting their health and ultimately affecting their performance in the examination.

    Knowledge is power.

8 + 8 + 8 seems to be a good technique for the students to make a time table out of the available 24 hours each day. I agree that a minimum 7-8 hours of sleep is necessary for the person to keep fit and remain capable for undertaking stress of daily studies.
Now the important thing in this matter is that every student cannot study for 8 hours a day due to individual reasons. So this formula might not hold good for all. Still, a student should try to reach this limit for fulfilling the dream of scoring high. Another thing is that some students study for long hours while others do it in piece meals. Some students prefer to study till late in the night and then sleep in the morning hours but that is also not a good system because by doing so they lose the precious morning hours which are so conducive for studies.

    Thoughts exchanged is knowledge gained.

The time schedule as suggested by the author might be helpful to the student community since the time slot for the sleep, rest and study has been carefully selected for the convenience of the students.

However, despite the best efforts of the students, they are failing to adhere to this requirement because of the excess pressure of their coaching institutions to update the tasks as suggested by their mentors apart from their early reporting to the institution and late comeback to their homes. This will affect the other two parameters.

Success will follow if they can follow the syllabus, understanding the basics of the subjects and a full revision of the entire syllabus from time to time so that there is clarity of the subject material included in the syllabus.
