There was a demand of engineering courses in the past and it is still continuing because that is the technology part of the education and the engineering graduates are having good scope to get a job in so many industries, organisations, and institutes where technical people are required in a variety of roles.
Engineering graduates with add on computer software qualification can get a job much more easily as compared to the other people.
As Dr Rao has suggested you can find the top engineering colleges in Mangalore by visiting educational websites but as per my observation I can also mention a few reputed and considered top ones there -

There is a lot of demand for the Engineering Graduates but the employers ensure that they get the best ones to raise their productivity. Hence the priority of the employers rests on the Engineering Colleges/ Institutes from where the candidates have passed out.
Since the entire course of Engineering consists of two portions- the theory and the practical ones and the candidates are supposed to be proficient in both aspects under the guidance of the distinguished faculties, hence there is a need for freshers of the reputed institutions.
As Umesh Sir has rightly suggested a few notable institutions in Mangalore such as the KIT, YIT, Sri Nivas University etc.
Moreover, Bangalore is not very far from your place, you can take advantage of this destination where you will find a lot of reputed engineering colleges for your ultimate selection.
You may try Ramiah College of Engineering, RVCE Engineering College, CMR Institute of Technology, AMC Engineering College, Dayanand Sagar College of Engineering, etc for the continuation of your engineering course. These institutions have their tie-ups with the best employers so that they will be absorbed into the multinational companies through the campus placement system.

Pursuing an engineering course is better than going for a simple UG degree in some subjects and then going for a PG degree. The reason is very simple that after doing an engineering course there are much more job opportunities for making a career. Only thing is the students should select a good stream where currently more job positions are being advertised which can be of course checked on the job websites in the internet.
About a decade back there was a huge rush for computer engineering courses because the students got good jobs after completing it. Recently we are seeing a sort of saturation in that line. But there are other branches which are evergreen like mechanical engineering for which there are jobs in so many industries. So a student should consider all these factors because choosing an engineering course.
Thoughts exchanged is knowledge gained.
