    What are the self employment opportunities available for the young people today?

    Today there is a tough competition for getting a job after completing one's education. Whether it is Government or private sector everywhere there are few vacancies as compared to the large number of people applying for it. In Government sector most of the positions are filled through competitive examinations where also there is a huge rush of applicants.
    In such a scenario it makes sense for the young people to think of some self employment path for making a livelihood and career. What are the self employment opportunities available for the young people today? Please share your ideas and experiences in this matter.

    There are many self-employment chances are there these days. A financially sound person can get a loan from a bank and start his own business. Thus he will get engaged and he can provide jobs to another 2 or 3 people.
    These days banks are giving loans to many people without any additional security under various government schemes. A person who knows driving can buy a car and run it as a taxi. Some people are purchasing autos and some are going for two-wheelers and running them as taxis. Similarly, vehicles owning boys and girls can take up delivery jobs. If there is a factory employing some people near that factory one can start a small canteen or coffee shop. A pan shop will also have good demand.
    These days we see many roadside tea shops that are being opened by some people and are run by them only. People having technical skills can take up work on their own. There is a lot of demand for such works and we are not able to get people for these works.

    In todays situation it makes sense to go for self employment. There are many options but the person should have a clarity about the things and work that he is going to do for establishing a self employment opportunity.
    In this respect the person having a technical certificate or diploma will be in an advantageous position. Today there is a good demand of plumbers, electricians, mansions, and other people who can do petty jobs in households, shops, and other establishments.
    Apart from that small stalls selling tea and other eatables are doing a brisk business especially in crowded places. So locating the business in a proper place is also an important factor in establishing it.
    Thoughts exchanged is knowledge gained.

    For the survival in the present regime, we need to explore the different options available to us and examine seriously whether the available alternatives would suit us for our employment. The complacent attitude needs to be curbed and we should adjust according to the job options available to us. It may so happen that we are having a degree of a higher level and the job for such a degree is not available to us in the present situation.
    We need to be a little bit flexible in respect of employment and should not mind in accepting the lower categories of the jobs such as the Electricians, Fitters, Riggers etc. If we look around we can find that some of the MBA's have opted for the catering jobs due to the non availability of their matching jobs. Though, it is a compromising situation for them but at the same time, it is a wise step.
    Eatery outlets are definitely doing the brisk businesses and hence the need of the hour is to identify the opportunity and we should behave accordingly to adjust ourselves in the present market environments.

    We cannot understand estimate the present generation though there are some cases of wasting time by waiting for a suitable job according to their qualification. I am seeing many youngsters are availing themselves as Ola/rapido bike drivers, swiggy/Zomato deliverers.
    Recently I read one post graduate qualified person in a city starts himself undertaking tuition to needy children three months back and now started a big level tuition centre with ten more teaching graduate/post graduate persons.

    Event management is also appearing as an area where there is good job volume and one can consider that also for self employment.

    Though we have more young people in our country, there is a large gap between the demand and supply of quality jobs both in the public and the private sector. Either qualified youth move abroad or take up good positions in government/private corporate companies. However, the less qualified/privileged with just a graduation or unable to do higher studies are struggling to get into good employment. In this scenario, being self-employed helps them to be independent in their livelihood and be their boss too. Umpteen opportunities are there. Running a play school or daycare is a good option. Computer coaching centers are also unique with growing technology globally. Unemployed youth can take online tutoring if they are interested in teaching with good communication skills. Being a good YouTuber is also another option. Blogging as our ISC webmaster Tony John sounds good if you have good writing skills. At present, taking up catering contracts or housekeeping is indeed very much needed. Technically qualified people in VFX or graphics can take up projects for movies or web series. If there is a will there is a way.
