I remember my school days when we were eagerly waiting for Binaca Geetmala every Wednesday evening. Ameen Sayani was a great presenter and his voice captivated a good number of people who made it a point to listen to the every episode of that hit program. At that time Radio was the major source of entertainment and Binaca Geetmala was the most popular program.
I pray for the peace of departed soul. Om Shanti.

Much before Amitabh Bachchan's baritone voice became familiar and famous, it was Ameen Sayani's iconic voice that entered many of our homes and warmed our hearts. Not just a clear voice, but the right diction is equally important for an audio medium, and he nailed it perfectly. He didn't just announce a list of the best songs of that era but also entertained us with something interesting.

    R.I.P Ameenji!

Ameen Sayani is not more. He was 91 and died on the 20th of this month. Sayani suffered a heart attack on this Tuesday evening and died in a hospital in Mumbai. It is very sad to know that he is no more.
He is a very well-known radio presenter. His famous programme is Binaca Geetmalla. He was associated with All India Radio's Vividh Bharati from 1988 to 1994. In his entire service, he presented and voiced over 50,000 shows in 42 years. A great voice is not heard anymore. Binaca Geethmala was so famous because of the way this man presented the same.
I pay my respects to the departed soul.

Ameen Sayani was an era himself. Our generation people were so synchronised with his broadcasting voice. In many of the mimicry programme his voice and style used to be imitated. As Radio was the main at-home entertainment and pastime then, most of us used to be glued to such programmes regularly following the time table.
There were some such names in Radio Ceylon(later SriLanka broadcasting Corporation) whose style and voice kept us almost as addicts to their programmes.

When I was in my childhood, my father was fond of listening to radio music. There was no television at that time. My father loved the two most popular programs Binaka Geet Mala and Kaka Hath Rasi's Poem. When I listened to Ameen Sayani's voice the first time, I was so impressed that I tried to copy it for a couple of days. And after that, I eagerly waited to listen to his voice. It was a great loss not for only music lovers but for the whole of India. He is not with us but his voice and remembrance of those golden days will be in our hearts forever.
