Today another favourite Ghazal singer of mine has left

Nowadays, I have noticed that I am only raising obituaries as Forum post. Today we have lost Pankaj Udhas, who has been another favourite ghazal singer of mine (along with the late Jagjit Singh).

Pankaj-ji has passed away peacefully today early morning, leaving behind a legacy of soul-stirring melodies and profound musical contributions. Born on 17th May 1951 in Gujarat, Pankaj Udhas began his musical journey at a very young age, mesmerizing audiences with his captivating voice ('malmali awaaz') and poignant renditions of ghazals.

Throughout his illustrious career spanning several decades, Pankaj Udhas achieved widespread acclaim and adoration, becoming synonymous with the golden era of Indian ghazal music. His velvety voice, emotive expressions, and lyrical depth resonated with listeners across generations, earning him a dedicated fan base both in India and abroad.

Pankaj Udhas sang numerous timeless classics, including iconic ghazals like "Chitthi Aayi Hai," "Aur Aahista Kijiye Baatein", "Sabko maloom hai ke main sharabi nahin", "Paimane toot gayen", "Mausam-e-gool kayamat ki hawa deta hain", "Khuda ka suqr hain, warna gujarti kaise shaam", and many others. His ability to evoke emotions through music touched the hearts of millions of ghazal-lovers all over the world.

Beyond his musical prowess, Pankaj Udhas was/is revered for his humility, generosity, and philanthropic endeavors. He actively supported various charitable causes, using his platform to make a positive impact on society.

Pankaj Udhas's demise leaves a void in the world of music that can never be filled. His melodies will continue to echo in the hearts of his admirers, ensuring that his legacy remains immortalized for generations to come. He has left behind his wife Farida Udhas, two daughters and millions of ghazal-lovers all over the world.

The world of ghazal music has become very poor after the departure of Pankaj Udhas.

    Rest in Peace!!!
