Addition of New University - IIM Mumbai

Dear Vandana, University and College Section Teams,

I want to bring to your kind attention that we do not have the Indian Institute of Management Mumbai in our Universities section and their college in the Colleges section.

National Institute of Industrial Engineering (NITIE) was redesignated as IIM Mumbai on 12 July 2023 under the IIM Act and was given the honour of Institute of National Importance.

IIM Mumbai is not affiliated to the University of Mumbai and for that sake, under any university. It is governed directly by the Ministry of Education, as is with India's other IIMs.

Given the university and college structure in IndiaStudyChannel, I request you to kindly add IIM Mumbai under the university section, so that a respective college posting can be made.

May I request that the following two links be parsed:
    https://iimmumbai.ac.in/
    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Indian_Institute_of_Management_Mumbai

    Thank you

    Dr. Apurva Tamhane,

Yes, the name changed, and I had written admission-related articles related to IIM Mumbai. I have added the IIM Mumbai University for now, with the address and contact information, and will update the page with descriptive text later. Thanks for the alert.

An update- As of now, we have added it, but I would like to confirm with the Webmasters whether it is ok to have it in the university section since actually it is a B-school that would ideally be in the college section.

Sorry for replying in so late. However, since the college is an Institute of National Importance, it is not affiliated with any University. Thus if it is to be listed in the Colleges section, it has to be again listed in the Universities section, to be then listed in the Colleges section.

While contributing in information update category in ISC, I have found some national level institutes like IIMs or NITs under the University heading. I was always wondering where we should put them - under college or university.
As suggested by Dr Apurva Tamhane we can keep them both places so that no one miss them.
I think experienced persons in the editorial team might throw more light on it.

Under the Education heading, there are some sections in which there is a section called 'Institutes'. Can all the education institutions having institute in their name be added to this section? Please suggest.

Dr Rao, institute section is there but it is for training institutes and we are already contributing training institutes and training courses under it. There are a good number of training institutes populated in that section where the students or professionals can find training courses like Python, web design and development, SEO, Robotics and many others. The list of these courses is quite big and one can find a training course of one's need and liking.
Before we go for your suggestion, we may have to rename this existing institute section to training institute.
Anyway, these are ideas only and ISC management may take cognizance of same.

Dr Apurva - we have confirmed with the Webmasters that as of now we will retain them in both, the university, and the college sections.

Dr Rao - Umesh is absolutely right. The section is not for educational institutions in general, but strictly for training institutes and you would surely have been aware of it. By the way, the section is open to members for contributions for which points and cash credits are given.
