IIM's and some other business schools are nowadays offering Fellow Program in Management (FPM) which appears to be like PhD only but it is a full-time doctoral programme in which the aspirants get opportunities for research in different areas of Management. There is an element of 'training for research' also in this programme.
Some of the areas of research are Economics and Public Policy, Finance and Accounting, Management Information Systems, Marketing, Operations Management and Quantitative Techniques, Organizational Behaviour and Human Resource Management and Strategy, etc.
