    Is Economics a tough subject?

Economics is one of the important subjects and many students opt for it during their education. There are many things which a student learns during the course of studying this subject. In Economics we learn about the production and consumption trends, about scarcity and management of resources, export and import of material and its effect on the concerned countries, inflation and depreciation, GDP and economic growth, and many other similar topics.
Doing economic analysis, predicting growth, and advising the Government or companies for suitable economic actions is a complex process where many aspects are to be considered. I feel that all this makes economics a difficult subject. Do you also think like that? What are your views on this?

In my opinion, we can't generalise any subject as a tough subject or an easy subject. This will be different for different persons. I used to feel History was a tough subject. We have to remember names, years etc. There is no way other than mugging up these topics. So I used to concentrate more on other subjects than history. I used to feel Physics is tough. But my friend used to say that Physics is easy for him.
Coming to Economics, I had no in-depth knowledge of this subject. I read Economics only up to 10th Standard and afterwards, I never studied the same. But I started learning some basics of this subject when I was heading a profit centre of an organisation. Even I used to sit with our Chief financial officer and used to discuss with him to learn some basics of this subject. As mentioned by the author economics is very difficult to understand but it is the subject that is driving human lives. Day in and day out we think about money, savings, controlling expenditure etc, which will be very much related to economics only.
I suggest the author see the heading once and make the necessary corrections. I think one 'is' can be removed.

As far as I understand the toughness of a subject is always variable from student to student. The same thing goes for this subject. If I say that it is really tough to understand the different parameters of Economics such as the inflation trends, the ways to reverse the same, importance of GDP and other parameters, some students and scholars of this subject might smile at my weakness.
Though the subject is included in the arts but at the same time to understand the principle of the different topics, very often mathematical derivations are employed to understand the basics with more clarity. I wonder how a student of the arts stream who have not opted for this subject can manage this subject. But again, I am mistaken, this subject is well understood by them.
Hence I think that the concept of easy or otherwise is always variable from student to student.

Generally, it is seen that the subject which a person likes and also does hard work to understand it becomes easier for him as compared to other subjects where he has not put much efforts.
Other than that there is a comparative toughness also. For example in science stream many students find Mathematics as a tougher subject. Similarly in art and humanities some students find Economics and Geography as the tougher ones. Of course we cannot generalize it as it will differ from individual to individual.
For doing my PG, I had options like Political Science, Economics, History, Geography, and Psychology. After a lot of thinking I went for Psychology and had a smooth study session.

    Thoughts exchanged is knowledge gained.
