Is Law a very tough subject?

Many students go for a Law degree for becoming a lawyer. There are a large number of colleges where this subject is taught to the students. When the students start studying this subject then they find that the subject of Law is not only a vast area but is a complex one also. There are so many rules, regulations, directives, and stipulations in the field of law that understanding them and using them for resolving a dispute or solving an issue becomes a challenging task.
What is your experience and understanding about this subject? Is it really a very tough subject or can be mastered with practice? Please share your views.

The author has dealt with the subject of law indicating its toughness level. Of course, this stream is itself very vast and one must remember the different sections so that the students studying the subject feels comfortable during their discussions in the law matters.
The students should be familiar with all sorts of regulations and other loopholes so that in the court, he has to fight a case defending the innocent people applying the rules of the law. In absence of the clarities of certain rules, the opponent party lawyer would take advantage of the situation and the case might go beyond the hand of the defending lawyer.
To understand the intricate parts, the candidates need to have full concentration on this subject while going through the different regulations laid down in the text books of Law.

Govt makes acts, rules, and regulations under the constitutional framework and that all constitutes Law. No doubt it is a very vast subject as periodically Govt changes various rules and regulations including constitutional amendments. A lawyer has to keep a track of all these dynamic changes which are happening from time to time.
The judgements made by the judges in the court also get modified from time to time under the new rules and regulations. This all is definitely presenting a complex picture of the Law subject. At the same time we also see that there are very good lawyers in our country who are doing excellent jobs. It means that they must have studied the law in much details and using their experience and knowledge are able to solve the most difficult cases. So, this may be a difficult subject but with hard work and efforts one can master it.

Any subject can be mastered if we have an interest in the subject. Many lawyers keep the rules and regulations at their fingertips. But the candidates should be updating their subject always. Rules and regulations will be changing and new government orders may be coming. A lawyer should be aware of all these.
In my opinion, completing a law degree is not that difficult. But later on, to practice law, a person should struggle;e a lot. He should be a voracious reader. He should be spending more time not in court but in the library. He should be reading case histories and case judgements to understand the laws properly. A lawyer should be a good orator and should be good at logic. He should be able to prove his point using logic and he should be more diplomatic. One has to concentrate and focus on his studies when he is doing a law course.

I want to add here that depending on the individual interest and liking one may find law subject difficult or not but the interpretation of law that is its practical application is a challenging area.
For example if someone commits a crime then one would be punished but there are so many situations and circumstances in which a person does a crime and the student of law will study that case study from the various angles. There will be legal points to punish the person severely as well as legal points to give him minimal punishment. That makes the things quite complicated and there are plenty of points brought in by the complaining side as well as the defending party.
To understand the subtle points of law and then use them in resolving a case is definitely a tough arena.

To me, Law as a subject is very boring and it creates fear in my mind. A student has to rote a lot, sometimes not even understanding the content, and reproduce it in the answer-script. As I generally can't rote, Law is a tough subject for me. Even very recently, when I underwent some online training programmes on iGot Karmayogi, I cleared the courses on various Laws/Acts with difficulty.

But some of my friends and colleagues, who have got LLB degrees, find Law an interesting and challenging subject.

Partha, for me law is not an uninteresting subject but I find it hard and tough. The reason is not only the acts, rules, and a large number of clauses but also a variety of cases and everytime a new perspective is added by the experienced lawyers.
At times there are conflicting verdicts creating confusion in our minds.
Based on my perception I have floated a related thread and incidentally this old thread and that new one are right now floating on the first page of forum section.

    Knowledge is power.

No subject is hard and uninteresting. But some people refer to some subjects based on their interest and understanding. Many arts subjects like history, civics etc. are rot subjects only. The same is the case with Law also I feel. When I was doing M.Sc ( Chemistry), one of my friends was doing MA ( History). He used to read and write the chapters many times. He used to say that unless otherwise, they would not do that, remembering years, names etc was very difficult. So some subjects are like that. So saying that a particular subject is tough or boring is not correct. It is not a universal idea but it is an individual's opinion only.
