My fathers open degree certificates collection Osmania University (1995)

    Hello Team,

I am posting this to understand the possibility of collecting my father's Open degree certificates from Osmania University.
My father has completed his open degree from Osmania University in the year 1995.
However, due to unforeseen circumstances he hasn't collected his degree certificates post completion. Is there any possibility upon request that we can collect his certificates. I am ready to pay the late fee and write an authorized letter from my father expressing his reason for the delay and request to collect the certificates.

Any approach or suggestion would be greatly appreciated.

    Kindly share your inputs.

    Ettedi Varun Patel,
I checked out the official website of Osmania University. They have a separate website for their Open Distance Education programs, and I found this page- https://online.osmaniaerp.com/AFC/Info/Registration where you can apply for your father's degree certificate. Please read the guidelines provided there.

If you so wish, first you could contact their officials and find out if a certificate of a student who graduated in 1995 can be obtained through the above process. The contact details as given on their website are-
Prof. G. Ram Reddy Centre for Distance Education, Osmania University, Hyderabad - 500 007.
    Ph: 040-27091605,040-27098350, 040-27097548, 040-27682275
    Email: info_cde@osmania.ac.in

It would be best to contact them on the phone first and make inquiries, but if you do not get satisfactory guidance, then send an email with your query, mentioning the course, year, and your father's name. By any chance is there any ID card that he has retained of his course/exam Admit card? This may be helpful.

Educational institutes generally do not provide educational certificates or degrees more than 10 years old. In most of the cases they tell that they don't have records available with them.
In your case if there are some documents like registration number, marksheet, provisional certificate, ID card, or other such old documents lying with your father then reference of same can be made and a written application can be given to the institute requesting for the degree certificate.
In such old cases it is generally better to talk on phone to the concerned person or visit them in person to insist upon the request and then follow the process if they suggest any to resolve the matter.

I think it is possible. As suggested by Vandana you can talk to the concerned authorities over the phone and get the details. But you have to give them certain details like name of the student, year of passing and hall ticket number etc. In the absence of those details, it will become difficult. But if you have any contacts in the office of the registrar of Osmania University, you have to proceed through him and get the details from their records by giving your father's name. Even for applying online, you should have all the above details.
