Google is penalising AI generated content

Recently, on 5th March, 2024 Google rolled out their latest core algorithm update. It is a massive update in which almost 40 percent of the total websites got deindexed from Google search engine. These 40 percent websites include spam websites, low-quality websites, AI generated content websites, etc.

Most of the websites are seeing their traffic getting dropped. Even some of our ISC members could see drop in their pageviews in the Adsense account.

Since ISC depends on the members to generate content, members please write the content on your own instead of depending on some AI tools.

The funny thing is that human-generated content is also getting detected as AI-generated content by some detectors. The things are becoming more complicated ever since the launch of AI tools like ChatGPT. If you can't believe, just write something on your own and use Grammarly to correct your spelling mistakes and grammar or punctuation. Now check this content for AI and I am sure there will be AI detected content.

Such things are happening with people who are using tools like Grammarly or Quillbot that use the same correction technique used by AI tools. I have completely stopped using these tools and now there is completely human generated content in my writing. It doesn't matter whether you are grammatically correct or not, just stop using these tools now.

Humble yourself or life will do it for you!

Now there are many AI decors and AI-generated content may easily be detected by these tools. So, we need to write our content without using AI tools. ISC also use these tools to find AI-generated content. So, in my opinion, if a member posts any AI-generated content to ISC, the editors delete it.
    Honesty is the best policy.

If AI generated content can be distinguished then it can be deleted. There are some tools which might be able to do it. I do not think that Grammarly changes our content to look like AI. Only thing is wherever it asks us to replace the phrases, we have to ignore it. As regards spelling and syntax using Grammarly, in my view, is alright.
More and more AI applications are coming and we have to wait and see how Google is able to modify its algorithm to deal with them.
AI is going to bring many changes in the way people are making or creating content and sky seems to the only limit for that.

    Thoughts exchanged is knowledge gained.

Google has a history of changing its algorithm frequently to cope up with the various menaces that are taking place in internet in the area of content writing and publishing.
It is really surprising and amazing to see that Google is able to do it so effectively and efficiently.
The content writers now will have to stick to their styles and mannerism that is the characteristic of a writer and only that can save their work from danger of getting categorised under AI tab.
Only the originality of thoughts as well as style would survive in this new world where AI is threatening everything. Let us make our efforts in that direction considering the Damocles Sword of AI hanging on our heads.

    Knowledge is power.

Grammarly is asking its customers to go for premier membership. If we go for it may give suggestions including changing of total sentences itself. In such a case, the writing may look like AI-generated content. So let us not use premier Grammarly but if we use only the basic free version that problem may not come, I think.
AI help is being taken by many people even in making their resumes. But that will not help us in improving our language skills. We should try on our own. Slowly we may be able to write in a better way. However, we can improve our grammar and vocabulary by reading some standard English books and articles. I never used an advanced version of Grammarly and at the same time so far I have never taken the help of AI in my content-making efforts.,
Google has advanced techniques and they use them to find out whether the content is original or AI-generated.

Let us not be confused with the manner Grammarly suggests us to change our style of writing. Ironically, our fundamental concept taught in our school days in the context of writing needs to be altered 180 degrees to make our version in compliance with Grammarly.
The question is why all of a sudden we have entered into a new regime which was earlier not required in our school stages.
I feel that we need not change our style as suggested by Grammarly always making us indecisive in relation to our content - writing. The important component is the clarity of the content so that the readers make out the same clearly.

There have been many updates by Google on how to use AI-generated content. Some of the important website links to have a look at are mentioned below:
    https://blog.google/products/search/google-search-update-march-2024/
Refer to the paragraphs which mention Scaled Content Abuse and Site Reputation Abuse.
Google calls for Human Oversight and Expertise.

Moreover, the current update has been announced beforehand. The actual implementation will begin from May 5th 2024.

Based on the above, one may write original content in their writing, but if it amounts to keyword stuffing, then it will still be considered spammy. Thus AI Generated Content which is spammy, low quality, and does not contribute any different value on its own will be hit by the new policy updates.
