Entire North India is singing this Kumauni song

Around five months before I first heard this song. We (my wife and myself) were going to Lansdowne. On our way to Lansdowne, we got down at Kotdwar and at the Kotdwar bus stand, in a very early misty morning, we were having tea in a big restaurant. In that restaurant, we heard the song for the first time and enjoyed the dance accompanying the song in the television kept in that restaurant.

When I first heard that song, I instantly liked the catchy and peppy tune. I asked the owner of the shop about the song. He informed me that that was a recently-released Kumauni video song sung by Inder Arya and Geeta Bagdwal. I told my wife that this song would be very popular. My wife expressed strong reservation and opined that being a Kumauni song, it would not be so popular.

But now, I am proved correct. This song has spread like wildfire all over north India. Wherever I go, I can hear this song. My daughter sings this song. Her best friend, who is a Jat girl, listens to this song. I have seen many short videos where beautiful girls dance when this particular song is played in the background.

Last month, I went to attend a marriage of a distant relative. There, on the dance floor, I saw dhoti-clad young Bengali men and lehenga-clad young Marwari women were dancing to the tune of this Kumauni song.

Readers! Have you listened to the extremely popular Kumauni song, 'Gulabi Sharara'? Have you enjoyed the song?

I went to Indore for three days. I was travelling there locally in a rented car. That car driver was hearing this song while watching the song on his mobile. I asked him about the song. He said that the song is very popular on social media these days. The song is very catchy. Probably young people will get more attracted towards such songs. I have also seen two or three short videos in which people are dancing to the tunes of this song. Nowadays social media has become a powerful tool for such things. Instagram and Facebook are being used often and posting such videos.
