Should we enjoy being original writers rather than relying on technology?

I am a genuine person. I say what I ought to if I feel that I am right. And that does give me satisfaction as a writer. Applauds and criticisms go side by side, but the final aim is to be satisfied that you have put across your point that is genuine and logical.

My point is, my friends, there may be so many people around you who may be able to help you to create valuable contents. And in the new era, we have ChatGPT, AI etc. that can help you create well-conceived, well-written content. You may gain points and your viewership may be on the higher side. But do give it a thought as to how destructive it can be to you as an author. Something like being just a reason for being here or, for that matter, any social media site. Would it excite you? Would you be happy about your creativity at the end of the day?

Imagine replacing yourself with Shri Bachchan in the 'Mere angane mein' song. It is possible. But can you be Shri Bachchan? It is something similar. So, despite the possibilities being opened up by AI or other tools, let us dedicate ourselves to being original authors, writing what we like as we like and enjoying the returns.

    What do you feel?

A writer has got a characteristic style by which one is identified. That is the originality of that writer. When the works of the writer are appreciated or rewarded then it gives him a great happiness and satisfaction of achieving something.
The readers and the fans of the writer are also aware of the style and patterns of that writer and feel good about it.
The problem with AI is that it will give a perfectly written content, devoid of any grammatical error and for all the AI content the style would remain digital and will not have a personal touch. This monotony would not go well with the readers who are having a habit of reading different styles by different writers.
I strongly feel that a writer should keep his identity intact and should not take help from AI to create content.

During our school lives we were asked to write essays in our classrooms or examinations. We used to write in our own way based on our studies about that thing. We never tried to cram and reproduce sentences because we were told not to do so as that would lead to low marking. That time we could not understand these subtitles but later I realised that it was told to improve our creative thinking and creative writing.
So using AI for our content is like that only. It is something to reproduce already written somewhere.
I would prefer to write in my own way rather depend on AI content.
As far as digging and mining of data is considered, AI is a great tool and to that extent one can use it effectively.

I enjoy being an original writer and do not depend on any tools except Grammarly. When I am writing anything I am the writer and when AI is doing that the credit goes to AI and not to the person using it. Unfortunately, persons using such content-generating tools never think of it very deeply and feel it is their contribution as it is published in their names. Shall we use the term Author for such contributors? I don't think so.

The advent of social media and viral videos has created a compulsion in many users to shoot to fame within a short span but they fail to understand that such things are short-lived just like viral fevers. Posting regular updates on various social media may make some people crazy for publicity and by hook or crook, they need to show how talented they are to others. These feelings may give rise to depending on content-creating tools to prove their originality to others despite being a newcomer to the domain.

It seems to be an interesting discussion whether we should express our original content or we opt for a version making it attractive with the application of one very popular these days like Chatgpt, AI etc. By far such tools might make the whole context quite appealing and the writer might have a false sense of satisfaction of their innovativeness and creativity in producing such content.
More writers are dependent on such tools more they might suffer from rage of inferiority complex thinking that the ultimate outcome is not theirs but the creation of AI tools presently adopted by many. The worst part might be such writers might face some charges of copying content from different sources. Hence it is better to write freely accepting the voice of our heart and the same might stimulate our readers greatly.

Copying from somebody else or taking the help of a third party for writing is not useful for us to develop as a content writer and improve our writing skills. If somebody wants only points or to get some cash credits, getting help from somebody may be helpful. But it is not the very purpose of my writing. Probably others also will be in agreement with me.
We had a competition in our high school. We had to give a talk for 5 minutes on the subject given by them. 4 members including me participated in that. One boy talked very nicely but brought a paper and delivered the talk while talking. All the others talked extempore. The judges did not consider the person who used a paper as a reference even though he brought good content. I and another person were allowed to represent our school in district-level competitions.
So AI or chapt may be helpful to make some content but not to improve your skills, I feel.

Being a writer and using tech can work together. Tech helps with finding info, fixing mistakes, and organizing thoughts. Just like how an actor relies on choreography, singers, dialogue writers, and others to bring a performance to life on stage or screen, writers can utilize technology as a supporting tool to enhance their craft. While actors may have a team of professionals behind the scenes helping them shine, it's ultimately their talent and interpretation that captivate the audience. Similarly, writers can harness the capabilities of technology to streamline their process, but it's their originality, voice, and creativity that truly resonate with readers. So, embracing both the assistance of technology and one's own imaginative prowess can result in a more enriching and fulfilling writing experience.

    Kamal Kishore,

I beg to differ. I can understand using technology (an online tool) to make corrections like a grammatical mistake or a spelling error, but to use it to create the text is unacceptable. The analogy is also not apt. Actors are enacting a scene as per the vision of the scriptwriter, the director, etc but the acting per se is what is inherent in them (their talent). That cannot be artificially created. It is not so with tech-generated writing. Where is the "orginality, voice, and creativity" in your writing if you use technology? Isn't that just the opposite?! It is neither original nor creative and certainly not your own 'voice' but an artificial one. Let's say you write a response to a thread, then put it in an AI tool to rewrite it. How does it become your personal piece? It becomes a robotic, disembodied voice. Or even consider AI tools creating a painting as an entry for a competition. It's not only not original, it is unethical.

It is also so joyful to write something spontaneously, something derived from your own thoughts, and you feel that ok, it may not exude perfection, but you are content at having put up something you wanted to express in your own style (like this response). Using AI kills that excitement and feeling of contentment.

AI, Chat GPT, etc are non-human, fake tools that kill spontaneity and natural flair.

I agree, too, with the views in other responses, of the dependence on such tools, about creating text that is monotonous to the reader, etc. Sheo Shankar Jha's statement about creating a "false sense of satisfaction of their innovativeness and creativity in producing such content." is particularly brilliant. Spot on, that!

I am a very slow learner, especially in the matters of new technology. So, I experiemented with AI or Chat GPT much much later.

I have special interest in current affairs and Indian politics. Alas! the Chat GPT can't help me at all on these issues.

I have some special interests on various other so-called 'controversial' topics, e.g, genocide of Hindus during the Islamic rule and during the European period. Yesterday, I tried to know about Inquisition in Goa. The information furnished by Chat GPT was laughably inadequate and completely vegetarian-type (non-controversial).

What more can I comment about Chat GPT?
