The Natyashastra was written in Sanskrit language and contains content related to classical music, dance, and drama. This is considered the oldest and most comprehensive work on Indian classical music.
Later the name of Purandara Dasa is also associated who was instrumental in illustrating the theory of Indian classical music for the music learners and he also created exercises in music for the musicians to practice. Purandara Dasa was a saint and a great devotee of Lord Krishna.
