The success mantra: Consistency and focus

We all will be doing something or other every day and we all try to be successful. Some are successful and some are not. What are the parameters that will make us successful? Many HR Gurus say that Consistency and focus are the two important characteristics required for success.

A company should produce the product consistently with quality and should focus on the customer. Then that company will be successful.

A student should consistently spend his time in studies and focus on the subject that is being studied at that particular moment. That will make the student perform well in the examinations.

A person who focuses on the job at hand and consistently tries to perform well in his job will attain success in all his endeavours.

I like to know the views of other members on this subject.

A nice post bringing out factors required for success.
There are certain parameters which are necessary for success in business as well as individual life. Seriousness, sincerity, consistency, determination, concentration, and focus are some attributes which are the necessary ingredients for the recipe of progress and development.
The essence of this lies in the fact that there are some qualities which can drive a person towards success. A person who wants to do something great in his life has to adopt these attributes failing which he would not be able to focus in the desired path.
In Mahabharat when Arjun was asked by his teacher about what he was seeing as the target then Arjun replied that he was only seeing and focusing on the eye of the target bird.

    Knowledge is power.

The author is correct. In Mahabharatha an incident was notified for this topic. Once Drona Acharya was testing his students on their arrowing. He asked his students one by one to target a bird sitting on a tree. Everybody, 100 Gauravas, four of Pandavas removed in the initial stage itself on the Acharya's asking. When the turn comes to Arjuna, Arjuna starts to raise his bow with arrow but the Acharya asked him :
Acharya: Arjuna do you see the branch?
    Arjuna: No,
Acharya: Arjuna do you see the leaves?
    Arjuna: No,
Acharya: Arjuna do you see the bird?
    Arjuna: No,
Acharya: Then what you are targeting?
Arjuna: The eyes of the bird
    Acharya: Very good, start!
On the next fraction of second Arjuna made the bird fallen through his arrow.
Here Acharya told all students that when we targeting our focus should be on the target by ignoring all other things around the target.

I agree that these factors are important in our lives and help us to move ahead smoothly to achieve our targets. This is true for everyone, whatever goal one is trying to reach.
Today we have a myriad of opportunities waiting for us. For everything there are a number of options. Sometimes it becomes difficult to select a career path. Our minds distract from one thing to other. That involves a loss of time and inability to make a decision.
In such situations, focusing the mind for a particular target is definitely a great tool and those who consistently try for their objectives, generally succeed.
Students or professionals, everyone should avoid any flickering from one path to another. There are cases where students appearing in UPSC or other such coveted exams change their subjects from one attempt to another. Such actions do not help and simply are a wastage of time. Whatever we decide we should concentrate in that for scoring maximum. No subject is easy and no subject is difficult, it is our hard work that we perceive it as easier.

    Thoughts exchanged is knowledge gained.

Success is a culmination of various factors including consistency, focus, vision, hard work, resilience, continuous learning, effective communication, networking, time management, prioritization, and emotional intelligence.

While consistency and focus are vital for staying on track and achieving goals, success also requires adaptability, perseverance, self-improvement, and strong interpersonal skills.

By integrating these parameters into one's approach, individuals can navigate challenges, seize opportunities, and progress towards their aspirations with purpose and determination.

    Phagu Mahato
Success occurs when opportunity and preparation meet.

Some students are by birth intelligent. They would pick up the concept with a little endeavour though for the average student, much effort is needed to understand the concept. The consoling point is that the average student can turn the situation favourable with a slight change in his attempt.
We have seen how an average student has outperformed with the approach of consistency and focus in his study. However, hard the course may be, a single - minded devotion to his studies in a consistent way can make his career rosy. A student should never compare with others but he needs to make a proper planning how best the best performance can be achieved with his total involvement.

You've really hit the nail on the head with consistency and focus being key to success. Whether it's a business, studying, or any kind of work, sticking to your goals and keeping your eyes on the prize really do make a difference. It's like watering a plant every day and making sure it gets enough sunlight – it's bound to grow.

But it's also worth mentioning that being flexible and adaptable to change is important too. Sometimes, even with the best focus and consistency, things don't go as planned. Being able to adjust and keep moving forward is just as crucial.

It's great to remind ourselves that success isn't always about big leaps but often about those small, steady steps we take every day. Would love to hear more thoughts on this!

    Regards,

    Sunil
