It seems we are dull fools this April 1st

Frankly so(Or is it Prankly so?).

Honestly I did not get even a single post in my WhatsApp today regarding or connecting or referring or making (me) an April Fool. As I am indisposed and had to spend full forenoon at a hospital OPD section with X-ray, blood test, clinical examination, pharmacy etc. I longed for some lighter moment to cheer me up. Many posts were received but most of them dull forwards, some on election politics and lacklusture matters.

Is it that being election month that we want to pose as all-knowing, vote-powerful etc. and not to reveal our vulnerability? Or, is it that we have accepted that we are fools all three sixty four days, then why highlight just one day?
What is your take on this?

I think everybody forgot about April Fool day. I have also not received any messages in this connection. As mentioned by the author all messages are normal like any other day. I remember even newspapers used to publish false news on the first page and ask readers to refer to further pages and finally say that the news was fake news. But such news is also not there. of course, many of the politicians making all of us fools with their false promises and manifestos. Earlier we used to get fooled on April 1st only. But these days we are getting fooled every day because of these politicians.
Nowadays people are busy with their busy schedules and other commitments. So they are not finding much time for such activities I feel. Today I attended a function in the morning and met many of my relatives and friends. But none of us talked about this fool's day. Thanks to the author for making us remember about this day of April Fool's day.

I spent my whole day with a lot of activities including the guidance of my grandson in the same spirit as I did on other days. I could not feel that it was a fool's day but nothing reminded me of the greatness of this day. I think this is the first time, I escaped to mark the importance of this day.
I had a pleasant day with my friends and none reminded me of the significance attached to this day. There was no reminder either from the newspaper.
I think people get enough entertainment by making others fool and the person being fooled feels very much relaxed. Hence this day does have its importance.

I remember during our school days 1st April was a day that we waited for long and devised various ways to make other students fool by innovative ways. I remember one of our friends told us to go to the canteen where he would offer us tea and snacks and we waited for him there but he quickly disappeared from the scene only to be seen next day.
But now we do not see any such activity. People are busy in social media and are very busy with their mobile devices.
The craze for 1st April is almost disappeared and no one seems interested in making others fool or playing pranks on each other.

I think many years back we had heard about this activity but since last few years no one is talking about it. Is it happening only in our country or outside also?
In fact this post has made me to recollect those old days when this tradition was so common.
This also shows us an example as how some tradition slowly disappears in thin air with the passage of time.

    Thoughts exchanged is knowledge gained.

My friend from Belgam , Karnataka has fooled me this year. he sent a WhatsApp message with a link saying GOI has approved the merger 50 per cent of DA merger with Basic pay for their central govt. employees. Eagerly I opened the link where it mentioned me "A FOOL' .

First of all, I wish Venkiteswaran sir a speedy recovery. Take enough rest and follow the advice of the doctor and I am sure you will be fine within a couple of days.

Yes, it seems that we accepted ourselves as fools and therefore, not interested in showing our intelligence to others on that specific day. On a lighter note, I would say that many remain busy fooling others in some pretext regularly and hence never bother to try it only on a special day.

    Venkiteswaran,

Good to see you back in good health. When you need cheering up, just send me a message. I'll do the needful!

As for the pranks of 1st April, I think it has reached saturation point. Nobody really has anything original as such, what with it easy to just look up online sites or copy what others share on social media. Moreover, it is no longer easy to fool others, knowing that it is 1st April so people will just yawn and dismiss it without the expected reaction.

    Venketeswarn Sir,
I wish you a speedy recovery so that you can be active again as you have been in past. I am sure with your proper advice and maintaining the follow -up with your doctor, you will regain your energy.
I understand your plight that once indisposed, you need to follow several routine tests as suggested by your doctor and the treatment will proceed after examining each parameter. Initial phase might be time - consuming but with the proper follow - up of the physician, you will notice your improved condition shortly.

Venkiteswaran sir, hope you have regained good health by now.

Coming to the thread, I think April 01st did not create any ripples because the elections have been declared to be held between 19th April and June 01st and people might have resisted from giving us a shock of being made fools time and again.
