Today (2nd April) is World Autism Awareness Day

World Autism Awareness Day, observed on 2nd April every year, highlights the importance of understanding, accepting, and supporting individuals on the autism spectrum. It serves as a global platform to promote inclusion and advocate for the rights of people with autism. Through education, advocacy and community engagement, this day aims to raise awareness about autism's diverse spectrum and encourage acceptance and appreciation of neurodiversity. Activities range from informative seminars and fundraising events to social media campaigns and iconic landmarks illuminating in blue, symbolizing solidarity. By creating inclusive environments, World Autism Awareness Day strives to ensure that individuals with autism can lead fulfilling lives, access necessary support, and contribute their unique talents to society. Together we can build a more inclusive world where everyone is valued and embraced for who they are.

In short, this day aims to foster empathy towards those people with special needs (autistic people).

There are many children born with autism conditions affecting them in various degrees. These children require special attention and care. Many parents are not aware about it and are not able to provide these children a conducive environment for their growth. If brought up in a proper way these children can show their creative strength and create handicraft items or paintings, etc. Some of the organisations working for autistic children raise funds through these endeavours.
The autism day brings a global awareness in this matter. We should also contribute in helping these children whatever way we can.
When I was in Dehradun for some time, I found a group of parents doing a lot of work for teaching these children separately and engaging them in creative and constructive works. These children require a different type of treatment during their learning and skill development.

    Thoughts exchanged is knowledge gained.

Many doctors say that autism is a health disorder that can be cured. The children with this problem may not answer our questions. They will not mix with other people and sit alone in a lonely place. They lack many of the social skills that normal children will have.
There are schools these days where such people can be trained and see that they will come out of such issues. One of my distant relative's sons was having a similar problem. His mother started a school for such children and she is doing an excellent job in that school and training many children who are having the above problem.
I never knew that there was a separate day allocated for them as World Autism Awareness Day. The role of parents is very important in making such children become active and they should be given enough and separate guidance so that they will come out of such issues.

Autism is a condition which affects the physical as well as mental behaviour of a child. Such children grow up slowly. They have to be treated in completely different ways than the normal children. Their behaviour is unpredictable and continuous care and monitoring is required.
Today there is good awareness in the society about it, thanks to the various organisations which are working for the betterment of autistic children.
Some of the agencies are NGO in their nature while some are as per the schemes and projects by various governments globally.
Autism day is another way to make us aware about this dreadful deficiency in some people since their birth.

    Knowledge is power.

Well, a day for the cause of the deserved and needy people and I have seen personally the agony of the parents of the autistic child. As rightly said by the members in the preceding responses, some organzations are doing their best for their betterment. we are living in a trend of Governance in various states where free bees are being given to the poor and needy, of course poll focussed. It would be nice if these Govts. too take care of such children and contribute for their improvement in mental health.

To take care of an autistic child, help should come the different agencies including parental care. This disorder proceeds in a slow but steady manner. Even the parents in the initial stage, might be confused why their kids are behaving abnormally very often. Not all parents can detect the exact cause behind it unless the same is confirmed by a competent doctor. In that way, some children affected by these diseases are not being properly diagnosed in many families. Such families need medical attention from some NGOs to arrest progressive disorders.
At least with the progress of time, a good awareness is being seen from the different agencies including the governtal hospitals. If the affected children are taught how best they can take care of themselves, it will a positive approach of society. We need to show our human approach always in dealing with such children.
