After the recent precis-writing contest, it is time to write an essay!The Topic: It's a choice
Interesting topic? Start organizing your thoughts on it. Do drum up some enthusiasm so that we get more entries than for the earlier contest.
What you have to do: Write an essay on the given topic. Submit it in the forum in the relevant category. You can check out the categories of our Forum. You might come up with a unique essay associated with a particular category! It can be related to films, education, parenting, politics, etc. It can be serious or something fun. We will thus get a variation in threads that would create good discussions, too. You can give one internal link to any page of ISC that is relevant to the essay, but this is not mandatory.
Members are free to post responses and engage in discussions in the submitted thread, but the responses should be meaningful and not a mere repetition of what is stated in the thread.
At the end of the essay, please give a link to this thread so that other members are aware that it is a contest entry. After you submit the thread, give a link to it in a response to this announcement thread to be considered for the main prizes, and also as a quick reference for other participants.
To help you along, a few general Essay Writing Guidelines: The essay can be of any type, namely, descriptive, narrative, critical, comparative, etc. Do not write haphazardly. The essay should have paragraphs. Put the text in a concise and structured manner with an introduction, main body (the core), and a conclusion.
The Rules-
1. A member can submit only one entry.
2. The entry must be in English with a minimum of 400 words to a maximum of 600 words (about five to six extra words will be permitted).
3. Give a relevant, concise title to the thread, with the specific words "It's a choice" included in the title.
4. Adhere to the general policies and guidelines of our site. Refer to Content Help Topics.
The Rewards-
1. Best Essay (up to a maximum of two essays will be selected): Rs. 100/-.
2. Second Prize (one): Rs. 75/-.
3. We may also give cash credits of Rs. 25/- for up to two non-winning quality entries. Other entries may get enhanced points and cc as well.
What we'll be looking for: Crispness, with a good flow, and an interesting title. English should be fairly good. It is suggested to use the free Grammarly tool to avoid at least basic errors in spelling, grammar, punctuation, and spacing.
