What are the weekly offs for you?

In most of the working places, Sunday is a holiday. In Govt and some other organisations because of 5 days working a week rule, Saturdays and Sundays are holidays.
There are some areas where round the clock work is going on and people go for their duties in shift pattern. Something like two days evening, two days night, two days morning and then a break of two days. For such people Sunday is not a holiday. There are some areas where shops are closed on a week day like Tuesday or Friday and as they are open on Sunday, it is not a holiday for them.
Are you going for a job or self employed? What are the weekly holidays for you? Are holidays for all the working members of your family falling on the same day?

I have a job and my weekly off is Sunday. As I am in core production department so it's tough for the organisation to give us 2 week offs but still they are trying to find out the way for us as most of the supporting departments are already enjoying two days off in the organisation.

I am a freelancer and I take up assignments as per my time and convenience. So I have no specific day as weekly off. When there is no work, I may have off for more days. If there is work I will be attending even on Sunday also. When I was working in an organisation we used to have Sunday as a weekly off. Saturday was half a day only. However, there was a maintenance team that will be attending maintenance-related works. For them, Sunday is a working day. The whole team used to work on Sundays and the team members will get shattered weekly offs.
My father was working in an organisation in our native place. In that place, we used to have Rytu Bazaar on Saturday. So all the employees opted for Saturday weekly off and Sunday working.
My elder son is working in a software company and his weekly offs or Saturday and Sunday. My younger son is also in the Software field. He is not having weekly off on Sunday. He will be having weekly off on Friday and Saturday. So the chances of meeting on the weekend are very low.

Being a housewife, I do not have any weekly offs as such. At the same time I enjoy a good number of free hours everyday and happy and contented with that.
Generally, weekly offs are a big relief for the people who have high volume of work load in their workplaces. They surely require it to freshen up and rejuvenate for the coming week.
Any work whether at the workplace or house brings monotony when done without a break. To that extent off days or days without routine activities are welcome by the people.
Off days does not mean that we would not do anything on those days. There are some people who work more on off days then the regular days. Of course what they do on off days is more related to their hobbies and other preferred activities.

As I am a retired employee, I do not have any such specific weekly off day(s).
But when I was in employment, I had varied experiences.
I was working in round-the -clock shift , my of days just went on changing. It used to be 2 days off after a spell of 5 days night shift; one day each at the end of each spell of morning shift and second shift.
Unaware to many even when I was employed in Bank, I had different (other than the normal week end days) off days.

In one place I had Sunday working, Monday off. In another place it was all seven days working and the staff had different off days assigned to them. to ensure continuity of working. Many times I had to forego my weekly off as some important matter may need my attention or someone would have pleaded hat I be there as he cannot take leave o other days. The Management conference or meetings and reviews may be there on the weekly off I thought to avail, then I had to forego that off. Even when I took off , as that day the bank is working I may be contacted for many things which need my supervision, suggestion or advice.

In my career days I could not enjoy my weekly off which prompted me to say 'My Sundays are also sold off".

Let me also share my experiences in this matter. During my first job I had weekly off on Sundays. At that time I was in a junior capacity and was never asked to come for work on Sunday. So, I enjoyed my weekly off during that phase.
When I switched to my next job then in the beginning I was given the field job and if I went to field job on a holiday I was given a compensatory off in lieu of that. So, I was happy with that arrangement.
The problem came when I got promoted and given higher responsibilities then it became very difficult to enjoy a weekly off because of some urgency of work or call from seniors.
I also had same pattern as narrated by Venkiteswaran in his response above.
So getting promotion can sometimes take away your weekly off.

My weekly off days are Saturday and Sunday. I eagerly wait for these two days, from Monday 6 a.m. onwards. On the holidays, I enjoy a beautiful afternoon nap. This is the most wonderful aspect of the holidays.

But, unfortunately, nowadays, I have to engage myself in official work even on holidays using my good, old laptop. I simply don't like such disturbances but am forced to tolerate these.
