It's a matter of choice: No, I don't think so

No, I don't agree. It is definitely not a matter of choice. Rather, it is an essential feature to establish discipline.

I am talking about wearing uniforms in educational institutions and in other organized institutions like military and paramilitary forces.

In educational institutions and organizations like armed forces, wearing uniforms is not just a question of personal preference. Rather, it is an essential component of discipline. Uniforms, contrary to what many so-called liberals may opine in numerous television studios, do encourage a sense of equality, cohesion, and discipline among the students and members (of the armed forces).

First of all, uniforms encourage inclusivity and equality among students or members of an organization (which runs primarily on the basis of discipline) by doing away with social distinctions based on attire. When everyone is dressed exactly same/similar, regardless of socio-economic status or personal fashion tastes, everyone is on an equal footing.

Furthermore, by making it simple to identify members of a particular institution, uniforms can improve safety and security. As a result, students or people belonging to a disciplined force feel more pride and accountability in their association, and a sense of belonging is inculcated. These values are invaluable.

Concluding the discussion, it is evident that uniforms serve as a symbol of discipline and unity (along with the creation of a sense of classless society within the organization), even when the choices of clothing may appear to be matters of personal preference or freedom to many. Following a dress code teaches people important lessons about community, respect, and conformity. These qualities are crucial for both individual and group success.

So, wearing uniforms in school and in other disciplined organizations is definitely not a matter of choice. There must not be any confusion in this regard. Nobody must be allowed to create any undesired and meaningless debate on this issue.

Yes, uniform has a great purpose of bringing discipline in any organisation. It also gives them an identity.
We all know importance of discipline in our lives. It is an integral part and in its absence everything would be haywire. If we observe then in any family what makes things smooth and amicable is discipline. A disciplined family outstands others easily. All the members follow the rules of the house and there is no clash. There is a time for everything from morning tea to dinner and members are free after their respective duties in the household.
Once the importance of the discipline is understood then we can realise that the purpose of uniform is to create discipline in any organisation or group. It is one of the measures to bring a feeling of group in the employees. They must know that they are working for the common purpose which is the objective of the company or business unit.
Same uniform brings a feeling of togetherness and creates a congenial work environment.

    Knowledge is power.

I agree with the author that uniforms will give a sense of equality. When all the students come in the same colour clothes, they will all feel like they are from the same family. Not only in schools but even in many organisations, we see employees wearing uniforms. In our organisation, we used to follow this uniform system. All employees should come to duty in the prescribed uniform only. The company used to purchase clothes and the company tailor used to stitch them There is no change in the model also. All used to wear the same model.
Discipline is critical in schools and colleges. It is important in every walk of our life. In a team, all should feel that every one of them is important and they are equally responsible for their tasks. So when we are working as a team or when we are in the same class, if we have the system of wearing uniform, we will have more cooperation among each other and chances of success will be high.

I fully agree with the author that uniforms will always bring uniformity unity among equality within educational institutions. Wherever they go, they are identified due to their dress and clothes. Suppose the students are to attend a picnic at some designated place, the driver of the bus would count his students based on the colour of the dress - code helping him to identify his pupils.
The dress - code reflects the discipline of an institution and is also indicative of our oneness. Hence It is an important attribute in every walk of life.

The word uniform evokes a feeling of orderliness in our minds. It is not only a sign of discipline but a vow to make order in our activities.
There are some entities where uniform is the basic thing for identification. We all are aware of the uniforms of police and army persons.
The uniform of pilots, nurses, inhouse staff, security persons, and school students all have their characteristic affect on us.
In essence uniform is the identification of a group having common purpose and objective.

    Thoughts exchanged is knowledge gained.

Author says uniforms are not a choice for the wearer. Yes, I agree. In many matters, there are no choice for us. We are not party to the selection at all. Hence we are not able to choose or rather it is not our choice.
Most blood relations are so. We cannot have a choice in selecting our biological parents, siblings etc. We do not have a choice who should be our boss. There are many such examples in real llfe where we simply do not have any choice.

Probably it is a blessing in disguise, so that we are saved from confusion and the guilt of wrong selection. In the absence of choice, we can blame others .
