    What is your favourite colour?

We see many colours. We all know that white colour is a mix of seven colours, Violet, Indigo, Blue, Green, Yellow, Orange and Red ( VIBGYOR). The colour of an object is the colour that is being radiated by that object. A rainbow looks beautiful because of the various colours that are present in it. We all enjoy observing a rainbow.
We see many colours. These colours will play an important role in our lives. We always look for the colour we like in all the items we are going to purchase. We always look around to see the colour we like. Different people will have different colours as their favourite colour.
As an Individual I like Green colour. When I see a green plant or a green field I get excited and try to spend more time in Greenery. I request all other members to mention their favourite colours.

Scientifically speaking light is composed of various colours and every object has a characteristics of reflecting and absorbing these colour components of light and that is what gives colour to an object. For example a red flower reflects only the red part of light and absorbs all other colours.
I have a choice of light colours especially light grey and light brown. I do not like dark colours especially red, yellow, and green.
There was a time when most of my clothes were grey, black, or white. Grey colour always fascinated me. It is a unique colour sitting between black and white.
I always purchased grey coloured socks and grey coloured handkerchief.
Due to my age my hair have turned grey but I like them and do not dye them.

It is difficult for me to tell which colour I like in particular because I have liking for many colours and specially the colour combinations. During my childhood I was involved and assisted in tailoring work that housewives often carried out in those days using the common stitching machine in the houses. There, I not only learnt about stitching but also came to know about the colour combinations used in making attractive dresses. What I found was that a colour in particular may not attract us but when it was used in combination with other colours then it gave a very impressive and presentable look.
For example a dark coloured lining around a light coloured fabric gave soothing sights. Some colours went with each other in a very expressive ways like light green and yellow.
So, whenever I see these colours in combinations I get attracted to them. Probably this is the reason that in the market today we are seeing a myriad collection of dresses having different different colour combinations attracting the customers.

The question may seems to be a childish but having a greatness in it. Many doctors are analyzing the minds of patients through the colors touched by the patients when the doctors asking by showing a board with many colors. The liking colors are replica of the minds of such persons.
Since my childhood I like light blue without knowing any reason. But later when I grow up all my shirts offered by my parents automatically blue based. Later I started my employment in a big factory influenced by Japanese techno and we offered Blue shirts for male and blue saris for female staff members as uniform which we should wear daily. I then learnt that Blue indicates Loyalty ,wisdom and confidence.

I agree with Ramachandran. The question appears to be very childish. But it is not so. Colour therapy is attaining importance and some doctors advise some specific colours to be kept in the room where a patient is staying. They say this will have an effect on the mindset of the patient and it will help them to come out of their sickness, I heard.

Choosing a colour is the instinct of a human being and I don't know why I choose the light blue colours always for my dresses. This colour is my first choice for my shirt and the paints, dark colours are my favourite choice especially black, brown or deep - blue. Though I have grown old, my choice relating the colours remains the same.
Despite age - advancement, my preference for the colours has remained intact.

Your favorite color also represents your personality. According to physiologist, aggressive people prefer red color; power with strong will and determination prefer black, fault-finders; white color etc. People who are emotionally stable prefer blue color as it is light and bright. Our color preference also changes according to our moods. Whenever we feel pleasant we prefer to see the beautiful greenery around us. Colors are the source of fascination to human-beings.

Many of us including me have shared their colour choices in this thread. Now I want to mention that when we go to a shop for buying a cloth or dress then shopkeeper shows us a large collection of materials in various colours and combinations hoping that we would select some item and finally buy it. But in many instances we do not get a thing of our liking and then go to another shop to see some more variety. Depending on the time on hand we do it and visit a few shop and sometimes go back to the earlier shop for buying an item.
So the point is that though colour might be a major criterion for us to select a dress or piece of clothing but there are some other factors also like design, trend, colour combination, size, price, etc all of which are considered by us before buying the item.
This happens not only for clothes but for some other items also like purse, handbag, scarf, etc. So, colour is only one factor in deciding about the purchase of these items.

That is true. This thread is all about the colour we liked. For selecting an item, we will have many other specifications in which colour may be one parameter. The design, the workmanship, the finishing etc will have a big say on our liking. Recently we went for the purchase of an item. After spending about 3 hours, we got the item which suited our requirement, I thought we got the item. But when my wife observed again there was a small cut in one corner and hence it was rejected. Generally, I prefer not to go for a selection of items. My family members will go and my wife has a debit card and a credit card and hence I need not accompany them.

Although the thread seems childish, it's good to have such threads between serious discussions. In between serious topics, some childlike topics act as breathers. After growing up and with gradual ageing, numerous responsibilities burden human beings. Thus, it's always great to have childlike threads which take the ageing people into a childhood ride.

Now, coming to the topic, I would say that I am fond of light colours. Well, black colour is an exception. Other than these two choices, I am fond of shades of chocolate colour, which are more brownish and not reddish. My choice usually leads me to have everything either blackish or brownish. Thus, everything seems monochromatic, which doesn't brighten up moods. So, I try to experiment with colours so that everything does not look similar and boring.

It is fascinating how colors can evoke such strong emotions and preferences in individuals. Just like you enjoy the calming effect of green, many others have their own favorite colors that resonate with them personally.

Different people have different colour liking and definitely is a personal choice. But from a practical point of view certain colours are much more useful when it comes to the maintenance of clothes in our daily household activities.
Light coloured fabrics are prone to stains and soil and we have to wash them more frequently than that of dark coloured ones. Even in dark coloured clothes there are some colours like brown and bluish grey that do not appear used and can be washed after a gap. Khaki dress worn by many industrial workers and other street workers is another example of same.
So using certain colours help us in reducing the maintenance efforts and use the clothes for more time before washing.

I agree with the views of Shampa Sadhya. Sometimes I feel being childish is very good. These days I am spending a lot of time with my grandchildren and they are taking me back to my childhood days. They always ask me to narrate how did I spent my summer holidays when I was in their age. I recollet those days and tell them my experiences as stories. That is giving me much happiness.

My favourite colour is white as it is a mixture of seven colours. People generally say white is colourless but actually, it is made up of seven colours. I always like to wear white coloured shirts. In the summer season, I wear a white kurta and a pyjama. I feel relaxed after wearing a white kurta pyjama.
    Honesty is the best policy.
