    Subho Noboborsho to all

In Bengali, we say Subho Noboborsho to greet everyone on this day and I am sure each region has its term to greet people on the very first day of the year.

On the first day of the Bengali New Year my warmest greetings and best wishes for all in the ISC family. With a new year, comes new hopes, aspirations and, of course, a drive to start afresh. The important thing is to maintain the drive within ourselves so that we can progress and work with zest to see that our dreams are fulfilled. Let this new year bring abundance in terms of health, wealth and happiness in everyone's life. Stay happy and blessed!

I also wish Subho Noboborsho to all in the ISC family. In our country as per the respective regional traditional calendars, in some places new year is observed during the March-April period. For example Ugadi and Gudi Padwa. It is a time for celebrations and many people go to temples and take the blessings of the Lord. Many people become interested to find out through astrologers as what there is in store for them during the year. We all are culturally associated with our local calendar and the time of completion of the last year and starting of a new year is a big event in our lives. It is an integral part of our social lives.
With modernisation we have adopted to western calendar also as that is the globally accepted one but for our religious rituals we still follow our local calendar and that is why it is important to us.

    Knowledge is power.

Subho Noboborsho. Wishing everyone a great year ahead filled with happiness and prosperity - and enjoy delectable Bengali sweets as well!

Indeed, as Umesh mentioned, there are multiple New Year celebrations in various communities in the first quarter. We missed out on conveying our greetings last week for those (on 9th April), as well for Eid (on 11th April), so belated warm wishes for those, too!

Sobaike 1431 Bongabder suvechha janai (Best wishes to all on the occasion of 1431 Bongabdo)!

We, the real Bengalis of West Bengal, Tripura, Kachharh, Andaman and other parts of the world are celebrating the Bengali New Year today.

Some other Bang-alis celebrate Poila Boisakh some other day. Let us not discuss them.

On this auspicious day, I pray to the Almighty to bring back the past glory of the people and the state removing the all-encompassing darkness that has engulfed the state of West Bengal and its people.

Wishing everybody a Happy New year today. This day, according to Tamil and Malayalam, is considered and celebrated as New Year. Greeting on the new year's day is really a good as we wish everybody as Good Morning when we see and similar to praying every morning with an expectation of Good day.
    Sarva jana sukino Bhavanthu!

Subho Noboborsho to all the members of ISC on this today. Today is Tamil New Year also. I wish all of them also a happy new year. Our Telugu New Year was celebrated on 9th April of this year. Unlike other New Year days, Telugu New Year Day will be on Chaitra Suddha Padyami and hence the English calendar date will be different every year. We follow the Lunar system whereas Tamilians and some other states follow the Solar system. So their New Year's Day will be on the same date yearly.
A new year brings many hopes to many of us and we make some new resolutions for the year and we will try to realise those resolutions throughout the year. But sometimes we may fail and may not be able to fulfil our resolutions. I experienced the same many times and I stopped making any resolutions for the new year.
Once again I wish a happy new year to all. A new year full of joy, happiness and health.
