    It's a choice whether be a vegetarian or non-vegetarian

Generally, people ask that what kind of food we should take veg or non- veg. Since child hood, I have been vegetarian because I love animal and i don't t want to kill animals for self desire. I eat different kind of fruit, vegetables, beans etc and I feel happy. I have gone to butcher's shop many times with my friends and feel uneasy by seeing animal's blood is never really a good idea. One simple fact that I follow is "If we can't give someone life to live or make it live after we kill, We don't have rights to kill any animal". Many will not agree to this fact. This is because nature or god has not authorized anyone to kill any other living thing. As we are also a kind of animal for nature, We should also think about other living species existing in this world.N

On the other hand, some of my family member feel unhealthy without non-veg. They require non-veg weekly once and they think that without non-veg our diet is not complete. Non-veg is the right food for those who are practicing body building, while veg are good for health related issues and for increasing health. So, I would like to say it is a matter choice whether be vegetarian or non-veg vegetarian.

It is our choice only. Our choice depends on our liking. If we like the taste of non Vegetarian we can go for it or if we like the taste of vegetarian we can go for it. Again we will have plenty of choices in vegetarian as well as non-vegetarian foods. In India, there is a tradition in some families that they will not eat non-vegetarian. Originally, particular caste people did not eat non-vegetarian food. But there is a change in the trend these days. There are no such restrictions in any caste. That depends on the individual. I never ate non-vegetarian so far in my life. In our family, none of us ate non= vegetarian.
Many people these days think that NV is not good for health and hence many people are not eating NV. That is why we see a big demand for vegetables. Now the concept of organic food is becoming strong and some people are going for organic fruits and vegetables only.

It is our choice whether we take vegetarian or non - vegetarian food and no one can put any restriction on our choice. While choosing either of the two, we consider the pros and cons of such types of food. People believe that taking non- veg items would make our body healthy and strong due to intake of protein -rich diet providing enough nutrients to the entire body.
Contrary to this, by selecting the vegetarian option, we might not get the sufficient protein essential for the maintenance of health. However, there are certain items such as Rajma, Channa, Curd etc which can compensate for the protein to a large extent.
Let us not enter into a controversy about which item is more nutritious but the fact is life - span of individuals depends upon several parameters such as hereditarian characteristics and our practices such as taking alcohol or drugs which can seriously affect our longevity.

Eating veg food or non-veg food is a matter of choice and people follow it religiously. There are many schools of thought regarding this and there is a large population of people across the globe who consume all sort of non-veg food.
Scholars tell us that in the beginning when humans evolved from apes, there was no concept of veg and non-veg because in the animal world the living beings consume all sort of foods depending upon their taste development and liking.
When humans evolved and became civilised then in some communities eating non-veg was prohibited as it was a sign of cruelty to animals. Followers of those communities made it a part of their religion and avoided eating non-veg food.
This choice was also affected by the geographical conditions of the places because in places where no agriculture was possible people survived on meat products. So, there are various factors and reasons as why in some communities non-veg is avoided.
Finally, today it is a personal choice to eat veg food or non-veg food.

    Knowledge is power.

In our family only vegetarian food was cooked and used for eating. Since our childhood we have been in that atmosphere and had not picked the habit of eating non-veg food.
So, there was no question of choice but the atmosphere in which we grew was like that.
We had pets in our house and I also became an animal lover and after my marriage I had to move to other places depending on where my husband was posted and in all those places I gave food to many stray animals especially dogs which were roaming near our living quarters.
Being an animal lover it is natural that we develop a resistance for eating non-veg food.
In many areas across the globe non-veg food is a part of the daily diet and there people do not distinguish between veg and non-veg. But in our country we are very particular about it and visit the hotels or restaurants also based on those consideration.
One of my observation is many young people today are by choice going for non-veg foods mainly because of company and taste and trend is increasing. Many small eateries or road side restaurants are having a brisk business by selling the non-veg items.

    Thoughts exchanged is knowledge gained.

In my opinion people who are sensitive will stop eating non-vegetarian food once they see how animals are slaughtered. It will remain in their mind for sometime and after that they will forget it and start eating again. We are human beings with emotions, but we are one of the most hypocrite living beings on this planet. We have destroyed habitats of many living beings on earth just to accomodate humans. The ecosystem isn't just made for human beings and the balance needs to be maintained in order to make this planet habitable.

At the moment every human being is just busy filling their stomach according to their taste buds. They don't care how the meat is coming and what are its consequences. Anything which is tasty is a food nowadays. In China and other Asian countries they eat everything from a cockroach to a live squid. It's all food chain for them and humans are at the top level of that food chain who can eat anybody for survival.

Humble yourself or life will do it for you!

Ajay Gupta Sir has written: "In my opinion people who are sensitive will stop eating non-vegetarian food once they see how animals are slaughtered."------------In this connection, I would humbly mention that in the animal world, it has been noticed time and again that those animals which are herbivores (vegetarian) are more cunning, destructive and angry. We can easily find how an angry elephant or angry herd of bison attacks and kills any other animal. On the other hand, carnivores (non-vegetarians) never kill in excess. Jim Corbett once stated that on many occasions, tigers leave helpless human beings (without any arms) without causing any harm simply because these ferocious animals are not hungry at that point of time,

Finally, I would like to say that if ISC wants to establish itself as a prestigious site, the management should not allow such a 'childish' post. The editors promptly delete simple wishes on Ram Navami but allow such a ridiculous thread.

Paratha Uncle, I don't know what's so childish about my post. Your post reminds me of a famous Hindi proverb, "Khisiyani Billi Khamba Noche". Your post got deleted by an ISC editor and you are taking your anger on me. It would be better to look at your posts and see what wrong you did rather than ranting like a pig here. Looks like you are devoid of any emotions and enjoy the agony of a living being getting slaughtered. As a human being it is normal to feel the pain of a fellow living being. You can visit a butchery and see how they are slaughtering chickens and lambs. If you can't feel their pain, then you are not a human being. I haven't said anything about eating or not eating non-vegetarian. There is a difference between a rakshash and a human. A rakshash is devoid of any emotions and they love to see someone in pain. On one hand you are celebrating Ram Navami and on the other hand you are defending non-vegetarianism. Seems like you forgot that Shri Ram never ate non-veg in his life. If you are a true Ram Bhakt you would never love to eat non-vegetarian food. Government has already declared Ayodhya a non-veg prohibited zone.
Humble yourself or life will do it for you!

Hello. I tried to become a vegetarian, but it didn't work. Unfortunately, I love meat too much and I didn't have enough willpower.
