How can we achieve the dream of peaceful co-existence?

We all are proud of our culture, traditions, and religion. It gives us an identity and a feeling of belonging to a like minded group. Most of the persons feel happy and protected in such an environment. At the same time differences between these groups globally or locally sometimes create conflicts and clash of interests especially when one of the groups shows some sort of aggression to other.
Till these culturally different groups remain confined to their boundaries and do not disturb each other, there are no problems. Unfortunately, this is not happening and we are seeing many clashes, conflicts, and wars in the world which are making the peaceful coexistence between different societies a distant dream.
What are your thoughts on this? Why so many confrontations are going in the world? How can we achieve the dream of peaceful co-existence?

It is difficult to maintain a peaceful environment unless the other party agrees. I think that we should not remain in a hurry to identify the other man's personality traits. At least from our end, we must talk to the other man with a positive attitude even if there is our words are irritating to him. We need to know the reason for his annoyance.
Hope a positive approach can diffuse the tense situation with which the other part is suffering.
A smiling phase, lending our hands for support to someone else in case of needs is sure to win the heart of the other group. Peaceful co- existence can be achieved with the appreciation of the other party.

Peace cannot be maintained only from one side. It requires cooperation of all the parties or groups involved in it.
If my culture or religion is different from others then it does not empower me to downgrade or hate the other religion or society. I have no right to undermine the culture of other people. I have also no right to force others to follow my culture. If I do that then it is too much to expect and would appear as a cruelty to other party.
Everyone has full freedom to observe one's religion and follow the traditions but has no power or authority to disturb others or force others to do something that is not admissible under other person's culture.
If people understand these basic things and do not interfere in other person's cultural space then only we can have a peaceful atmosphere.
Today in the world many conflicts are only because of interferences and proving one's authority on others. Until that is reduced we cannot hope much in this respect.

A good thought. My appreciation to the author for her concern. Sound will come only when both hands touch each other. If only one hand moves in the air it can't make any sound. In the same way, if there are two different cultures, people from both cultures should think of peaceful coexistence. If only one group believes there will not be any use.
Generally, common people will not indulge in unnecessary conflicts and prefer peaceful coexistence. If you observe in cities neighbours will be from different cultures are also be friends. But the problem comes from politicians and power lovers. These politicians always want to divide rule and that concept is making the common man a scapegoat. These politicians who are interested in votes try to evoke differences between people using these cultural differences.
A common man should not get into the trap of these politicians as they are the route causes for many problems in our society.

Peaceful co-existence is still a dream in India. It will remain a dream till such time as some political parties continue blatantly appeasing one or two communities for their votes. It is now time for all right-thinking people to first resist, then revolt and finally take revenge.

No political party should do any sort of appeasement to any group or society. That would create conflicts between these groups.
If the political leaders play such tricks then they are only responsible for clashes between the communities. One way is these people should not be allowed to use government machinery for the purpose of appeasement. For that we must elect honest candidates who will work for the overall growth of the country rather than for a particular community.
