What in your view should be the type of content and its quality that can generate good traffic?

Whether one is a blogger or working in an internet content site, the challenge is to generate traffic to the content pages. Many revenue generation programs are based on the traffic to the content as well as clicking on the advertisements by the visitors or surfers on these pages.
It is true that there is a competition in the webspace for attracting people but there are certain areas which have ability to attract more people to it. For example 'do it yourself' or 'common entertainment' materials generally have good traffic. There also issue of quality is on the front because many sites or channels are offering such content.
What in your view should be the type of content and its quality that can help us in attracting more people to our content? Please share your knowledge in this regard.

How to improve the traffic to a site?
Good quality useful content is one of the primary requisites for any blog or Website to attract more traffic. More traffic is of no use if nobody is clicking on the advertisements on that page. If there are 100 views but no clicks on the advertisements may not be very useful I feel. 10 Views and 10 clicks on the advertisements is much better, I feel. Any business requires more customers. Customers will increase when the business delivers quality products or quality services. So all the stakeholders in the business should try for quality imporvement.
There are many sites these days and all are trying to see that more traffic will be there. Site should contain different subjects and different activities. It should not get restricted to one or two areas only. At the same time contributors should get motivated so that they will contribute more and more. If necessary the site owner's should give some directions and hints to the members so that they will make quality contributions.

I remember when mobile internet just arrived in India, it was not a difficult job to rank your website in Google because there was no competition at all. You just needed non-plagiarized content during those days and your website would get tons of traffic. People used Google a lot during those days because internet speed wasn't good to watch videos. Blogs related to education and career flourished during those days because young minds always had questions in their mind regarding their career. Most of the blogs related to education and career flourished during those days but with time and Google algorithm the traffic declined. After the arrival of 4G internet the traffic was further dented because people started using YouTube more.

There is no sure short way to rank your website on Google. You need to act according to the demand and target keywords which has less competition. Also remember that 90 out of 100 websites earn nothing. It is a risky business to start a blog and requires a lot of patience.

Humble yourself or life will do it for you!

If we can post masaladar, attractive topics with matching coloured images, the traffic on the site will increase by leaps and bounds.
ISC must try to post dhamakadaar stories to improve its popularity.

This is a question that many website owners are facing today. The competition is increased. For everything there are niche sites.
Some members have indicated that entertainment materials attract traffic but for that also there are so many that are presenting the things even in a spicy form so a newcomer will find competition there also.
One thing is that content should be of high quality. It means that content writer and moderator (or editor) should work together to achieve it. In ISC, editors are already doing that and anything below a cut off is not accepted.
Another important point is data updating and we have discussed this earlier also. Any site which has a legacy data, which created good traffic earlier, has to take measures for its updation. In my view it is an important task and has to be taken up on priority.

Thoughts exchanged is knowledge gained.

It is not so easy nowadays to get good traffic as the competition has increased a lot. Hope we all remember the following two posts:

1. Future of ISC - Need your inputs

Though content is the main factor, traffic and revenue depend a lot on Google algorithms that may change from time to time. Rather than anything general, content that helps people to solve any type of problems they face in everyday life has more popularity. Keeping aside topics on fun, entertainment and videos we look for solutions on the internet. These days, even though people prefer videos to reading lengthy articles, if any writeup resolves any of their issues they will read it. For blog owners, a mix and match with the keywords is quite important to know the trends and post accordingly.
