Why don't we allow children to just be, children?

While some children are so happy going around with their parents to some exotic and cool destination for a holiday, many , or even most children, do not have such a luxury. They instead go to all the "summer" camps. In the name of personality development, a new crop of self-styled trainers often offer neatly packaged "offers" and even urban parents lap it up. The poor child is forced into such "camps".

Those children who do not have any taste for dance or music, are forced to attend some class or the other. They are often forced to do so by their parents or grandparents. Worse, a new breed of teachers play ball and literally push children, as young as six years, into such classes.

It is high time that we allow our children, to be, just children. The child needs to explore his or her own world at any point in time. A child who is just six years old, cannot decide what to do. Instead, the child should be allowed to explore the world around him or her, and then do it. The child should never be forced to do anything. We need a lot more understanding of children, than as of now.

Let us allow children, to be just children.

It is a relevant post from the author's side. While handling the children, the parents often forget that their children are the innocent ones and need the care of parents at all stages. The parents often behave rudely forcing them to take up the left -out tasks assigned to them by their class - teachers or engaging them in some other activities.
Such types of instructions often confuse the children what are the appropriate behaviour for them. They need guidance always in the initial stage till they understand the right norm. Moreover, we must be affectionate to them showing our closeness and affection to our tender aged children.
By the time, they reach the age of sixteen, they can make up decisions of their own most of the time. Personality - development is a crucial step and parents should not forget this important aspect.

There was a time when children were just like children and had a carefree life. There were no summer camps. There were plenty of holidays. They played outside till late evening and came to house only when their mothers scolded them. So, children were just like children in those golden old days.
Then the change came in a big way and not only educational avenues increased but career scopes also got enriched to a great degree. Industrial development and new business opportunities emerged and students started to learn various courses in addition to their normal academic pursuits.
Everything happened like that but the main problem that came was the increased competition everywhere and only those who could learn more in terms of skills and academics are able to survive and make a career.
So it is all consequential to the changes that happened around us and children have to attend so many extra things to compete.

    Knowledge is power.

Last year for summer my grandchildren came from Bangalore. We admitted them to a summer camp for 15 days. Again this year they came here. I asked them what is their preference. They said that they wanted to visit and stay in our native place. We all went there and stayed there for 10 days and came back. Then they showed interest in getting trained in swimming. We admitted them to swimming school. They are attending the classes very enthusiastically. This may be for a month. So there is no summer camp. After swimming class, I will be entertaining them and making them play small games within the house ( Not Virtual).
They are asking their father to take them on a tour for 4 or 5 days. He is planning. But I and my wife may not be able to go as We have to take care of my old parents in my house. They can't travel.
I agree with the author that we should allow children to be like children at least during summer vacation. The other days they have to attend many classes and schools.
