What, in your view, are the factors which make the forum section more vibrant?

Forum is a space in ISC where always some or other activity would be going on. This activity level depends on many factors like an attractive ongoing contest or some good forum posts or more members active at a particular time. When activity is more then more members get motivated to contribute while at dull times the excitement goes down.
What in your view are the factors which make the forum section more vibrant? Are there particular periods in a month when activity increases and then subsides intermittently? Please share your experiences.

That is true. The forum section should be active and vibrant to attract more traffic. Many members contribute to this section occasionally and some contribute only to contests. Members will be active on this site based on their time availability. Conducting more contests, encouraging regular members by offering some initiatives etc, may make this section vibrant. Eligibility for participation in contests should be based on the activity of the members on the site. If this is implemented I think many members start contributing regularly. This is only my assumption I may be wrong. Quality content should be there and that should be useful to viewers also. Then only our contributions attract more traffic, I feel. That will make this section vibrant. As of now, there are no restrictions on the subjects, I think members will have more scope to write their content as a thread in this forum section.

The very first need is participation - by more and more posts, and more and more members.
As ISC has got a vast variety in qualities in its members, vibrancy of topics and thoughts will flow easily.
At the same time the ISC establishment should se that members get motivated and stay motivated and enthusiastic.
ISC members generally have a comfort feeling that they are a part of the ISC .It is not very high monetary remuneration they expect, but a feel good dealing with them-via the dealing with their contributions- accepting and treating them as important for the sustenance and progress of ISC . I think it is still that way, but if a different feedback or even a hint comes by way of forum posts, that should be attended in its proper value. This was the wisdom ISC had been showing n its early years, but decarded or discarded in between and then slowly recovering it now.

In a feedback post, I noted as below:
"You must have the bird in your heart, before you can find it in the bush"
"Keep a bough in your heart and perhaps the singing bird will come"

I am happy that many birds that flew away are coming back and the chirping music is being heard. Let it continue and ISC be a habitat for such singing birds.

All the stakeholders should work with a single goal of reviving the site. If any loose end is there, the goal may not be reached. A small mistake is noticed and the same is brought to the notice of the Editors by me through a forum post,'Please correct the academic year. After seeing the thread our Managing Editor immediately thanked me and mentioned that she would inform the admin immediately. This all happened on the 18th of April 2024. Today is the 29th of April 2024. More than 10 days are over. But still, the mistake is not corrected. Probably the Admin is overloaded and could not do the needful. A little proactiveness and improving the site may have a lot of impact on the performance of the site, I feel. If I am wrong I may be excused.

Since I joined ISC and started contributing in it, I developed a feeling that it is not only the contribution that would help but it should be a quality contribution. Further, I should have an affinity for the site in the sense that I am motivated for making efforts for its progress in the already crowded internet web space.
No member will be benefited by working in ISC monetarily or from the angle of learning until the site does well and earns a respectable amount through advertisements and other resources.
So the only factor that comes to my mind is that every member should try to do his best efforts in this direction and I am sure we would have a glorious time ahead.
We can also bring a major revamping through updation of old data. But that would require more members to become active in that arena.

Any discussion forum would be vibrant and lively when the members actively participate in it by openly expressing their views. It should be a balanced approach while doing so. They can be like debates but should not hurt the feelings of others. When we are talking about something, it should be informative, logical and un-biased.

Happy to see that ISC Forum is regaining its charm and some of the threads reflect the motto of the ISC to turn it into an educational nitche. Such threads are very useful for those who are appearing for CAT, GMAT and other competitive examinations.

    Regards,
    Jagdish

Let me also express my views about this. Many members have opined that more members have to participate in forum section to make it vibrant. I agree to that and want to say that members also should try to make multiple responses to a particular thread when they get additional information or want to comment on a recent response.
In my view, every member should adopt a balanced approach in floating the posts as well as responding to them. Simply posting and forgetting about it is not a healthy sign. I would call it an abandoned post.
Another important aspect is that we should not negate any argument just for the sake of it. It is always better to give a logic for one's statement or comment.

    Thoughts exchanged is knowledge gained.

It is good to see that forum section is becoming more and more active and many members have come back and participating here.
One thing that I want to again bring to the attention of the members who are floating a good number of posts is that when responses start coming against a particular post and debate and arguments commence then the originator of the post should also try to give his comments on those responses or reaffirm about the content of his post as what exactly he or she wanted to know or discuss. That would make the forum section more lively and vibrant.
I hope that those who are floating a good number of posts will take this advice for overall revamping and progress of the forum pages to bring in more views from the visitors finally leading to increased traffic.

    Knowledge is power.

I agree with Umesh. One should see the responses from other members to their threads and respond accordingly so that the thread will become more meaningful. I have seen some threads raised by some authors which appear to be repetitive. One should think and consolidate such threads and make a thread instead of making it multiple threads. I hope we will see more and more meaningful threads raised by the well-learned members and editors of the site so that we will see good traffic to this site.
